This month, to celebrate the magical work our volunteers do every day, we held our annual Oz Awards🪄 From Potluck Partners to Support Groups, from Camp to administrative support – our work would not be possible without our volunteers! We're grateful that you choose to spend your time with us, helping to ensure no child walks the painful journey of grief alone🦋

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a lovely evening at the Center! Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week to everyone who give to us with their time and skills. You're making lasting impacts in the lives of children across South Texas💙

‼️Update‼️All of our open slots have been filled! Thank you all for your interest and support. We will have more opportunities in the summer and fall, so stay tuned for more information🦋

We're still in need of a few Potluck Partners this spring! All four open days are in need of both food and volunteers to serve dinner to our families joining us for Support Groups. Catered and homemade meals are both accepted – and we have an on-site kitchen available! Potluck Partners foster a safe and welcoming environment for families as they navigate their grief. You can make a lasting impact with one meal💙

CBCST and the Friends of the Children's Bereavement Center held our annual Spring Membership Brunch. It was lovely to come together and hear from two incredible past clients. It was truly our honor to hear Amy and Hayden Hayes share their stories, reminding us of the impact the Center's work has.

Our work would not be possible without the Friends, a membership-based group of individuals that supports the Center through advocacy and volunteerism. Thank you for your hard work all year and your steadfast support.

Thank you to new Friends and returning members for joining us for such a lovely morning! If you're interested in getting involved with the Center and joining the Friends, you still can here: https://give.cbcst.org/letsbefriends

CBCST is incredibly proud to be a Valero Benefit for Children charity partner. Valero Energy supports the community in so many ways and we are grateful to their dedication to our mission. Their generosity supports our peer-led support groups where caregivers and children find hope and healing through community. Thank you for all that you do for grieving children, families and communities in San Antonio and beyond🦋

To close out February, CBCST held its inaugural Young Adult Camp! This single-day grief camp offered support and community to young adults aged 18-24. This stage of life often comes with incredible change, and grief can make it that much more challenging to navigate.

Held at the McNay Art Museum, our campers had the opportunity to explore their grief through the beautiful collection housed at the museum as well as expressive arts. The shared experience was so meaningful, and we are grateful for the young adults that trusted us with their stories!

We continue our series on talking to children about death with an acknowledgment that grief can cause children to act out through anger or silence. Helping manage and support a child's emotions while grieving can be challenging, so making time for self care and giving yourself grace is key when navigating death loss. When noted behavioral changes occur, the Center has resources and support to learn and navigate these new challenges together💙

Thank you to all who helped make our 25th Annual Hearts in Harmony Gala a record-breaking success. We were honored to share this beautiful evening with our community. We truly came together to make a difference in the lives of each and every family that comes to the Center.

Together, we were able to raise over $600,000 to support grieving children and families from Uvalde to the Hill Country and across San Antonio. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making a lasting impact on our children's stories.
