Feeling stressed over overwhelmed? Try the 5-4-3-2-1 technique. The act of counting down is soothing to the nervous system. Try this example now and let me know how you feel afterwards. Think about or notice 5 Things in your environment, think of 4 things you are grateful for, take 3 deep breaths, imagine 2 people or animals you adore standing in front of you and send them love, and finally take a moment to remember 1 of your most favorite memories. Often when we get overwhelmed our minds are either in the past with all the coulda/woulda/should haves or in the future with the consequences of "What if I don't get it done?"...both tend to freeze us in the spot. The only place we can take action is in the Present. Use the 5-4-3-2-1 Method to ground yourself in the Present and regain your power to do whatever it is that you need to do.
