AHISD just sent out a flyer for sports physicals. Bear in mind that your annual physical with me counts as your sports/camp physical and that almost all insurances cover routine visits and associated vaccines with no expense to you. A lot of schools in the area do this and the extra cost, while small, is unnecessary. If you need a sports form signed and have had your checkup in the last 12 months, we can just sign the form for you. If you're due for your checkup, just call and we'll get you in.

In an effort to keep my well (not sick) patients well, I'll be altering the schedule for the next few weeks. All checkups (shot visits, sports/camp physicals, etc) will be scheduled from 8 am to 11 am. If you need a checkup but have any sort of sick symptoms, even if you think it's just allergies, come in the afternoon instead. All sick visits (colds, allergies, stomach bugs, ear aches etc) will be scheduled in the afternoon. If you have known or suspected exposure to the novel coronavirus (Covid19) please let is know when you call to set your appointment. Thank you all for your flexibility.

The website is back up! I will keep it up to date with vacations and try to update here as well. We'll be closed Thur and Fri July 4&5 for the holiday and will be back in the office July 8. As always, I'm available by phone or email.

I will be out of the office for a short vacation this afternoon through Monday. I'll be back in the office Tuesday morning, May 28. My staff will be here today and Friday for simple questions and, as always, I'll be available by phone throughout this holiday weekend.

.... And welcome to Texas: Measles in the Houston area. The kids getting it this time received their first dose of MMR but hadn't received the 2nd, 4 y/o dose. The origin of the disease in Harris county is still unknown.

edit- I should add that if we get Measles (or mumps/rubella) or Chicken Pox in San Antonio and your child is exposed or is likely to have been exposed, the 2nd dose of MMR and/or Chicken Pox vaccine can be given before 4 years of age.

The cases, all announced Monday, include three in Harris County, one in Galveston County and one in Montgomery County. They involve four children, all under 2 years of age, and a woman between the ages of 25 and 35. All are doing well now.
