2025 Flu Vaccine Facts and Recommendations:

1. When should we get our Flu shot? The CDC recommends you get your Flu shot sometime between September and October. Remember, the Flu vaccine is only effective for a few months (approximately 4-6 months), so if you get your shot too early (such as in July or August), then you run the risk of the vaccine losing effectiveness by the time peak Flu season hits.

2. “I’m not getting a Flu vaccine because last time I did, it gave me the Flu”. All injection forms of the Flu vaccine are INACTIVE, meaning there is no live flu virus within the vaccine. There is no way to get the Flu from the flu vaccine. IF you do develop symptoms including fever, chills, muscle aches and fatigue after getting your Flu vaccine, you are NOT getting sick - these are actually typical effects of your body mounting an immune response (that’s a good thing!)

3. Remember, It takes about 2 weeks after your Flu vaccination for your immune system to develop antibodies and offer protection against the flu. So remember, you are still vulnerable to illness in those 2 weeks as your defenses against the flu are developing!
