This Halloween season, our team spread joy, connection, and seasonal fun across multiple facilities!

Cherissa, LCSW, brought her creativity and energy to resident celebrations — from hosting a game table at a community Halloween party to participating in Trunk-or-Treat events at three facilities throughout October.

Residents enjoyed games, treats, and festive cheer, and Cherissa loved being a part of the celebrations alongside other partners and vendors. Her table was a hit — and so was her commitment to bringing meaningful, uplifting engagement to the residents she serves.

Help us welcome Autumn, LPC, to Deer Oaks in Texas! With a performance background in ballet, jazz, and ballroom dance, Autumn brings energy, creativity, and heart into her work as a clinician. She values strong therapeutic relationships and believes therapy should help people regain purpose, independence, and emotional stability—especially in long-term care.

Autumn enjoys ropes courses and good conversations for team building, loves stuffed sopapillas, and dreams of someday living in Maine. We’re grateful to have her passion and expertise supporting residents.

It’s that spooky time of year again at Deer Oaks, and our teams have outdone themselves with six fang-tastic pumpkin creations! 🕸️🕷️

From spine-chillingly creative to boo-tifully clever, each pumpkin tells a story, and we loved reading the backstories that came with every submission. Our clinicians, recruiters, and support teams have truly brought the spirit of Halloween to life (pun intended 👻).

Her dedication to seniors and medically involved adults aligns perfectly with our mission to support emotional and psychological wellness in long-term care.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and hopes to cross New Zealand off her travel list someday. If not in social work, she’d be a florist—which tells you everything about her nurturing personality. We’re glad you’re here, Kari!

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys playing tennis, eating fettuccine alfredo, and hopes to visit California someday. If she wasn’t a social worker, she’d be an artist—and that creativity carries into her therapeutic approach. Last week, members of the Deer Oaks team attended the Texas Health Care Association (THCA) Conference. It was a great opportunity to connect with partners, showcase the clinical benefits of our behavioral health services, and highlight our ongoing commitment to supporting facilities across Texas.

In addition to connecting with colleagues, Dr. Brown presented on “AI and Ethical Practice in Behavioral Healthcare”—an engaging session that explored the future of technology while keeping resident-centered, ethical care at the forefront.

🎉 Celebrating 25 Years with Deer Oaks 🎉

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Sharon on her 25th anniversary with Deer Oaks! 💙

For a quarter of a century, Dr. Sharon has dedicated her skills and compassion to improving the lives of residents in long-term care. She reminds new clinicians to “enjoy what you do” and to lean on their Deer Oaks and nursing home teams for support and collaboration.

Her advice comes with a personal touch too: "Bring a chair with you so you always have a clean and comfortable place to sit. I love my hunting chair and residents always comment on it."

When she’s not working, Dr. Swanson finds joy in self-care by acting silly and playing with her 4-year-old. That same spirit of joy and connection shines through in the care she provides every day.

We are grateful for her dedication, wisdom, and heart over the last 25 years. Here’s to many more! 💙
