When we are wounded, our pain can become blanketed in shame and guilt. And shame and guilt can convince us that we are not worthy to heal our pain, or to be honest about our pain.
And in our efforts to keep our pain invisible, we do everything we can to create this image that everything is okay, that we are okay, and that life is fine. We cover our pain with perfectionism, and overcommitment. We do these things so we can feel worthy and valuable. We believe that as long as the pain isn't addressed, then our importance remains.
How much longer can we attempt to keep our pain invisible? How much more energy do we have to keep up the facade? The answer: not very long. The pain will make itself known somehow.
So why not make the invisible, visible. Can you give your pain permission to heal? There is hope, and you are worthy.
