Need a massage in San Antonio? The goal of “relaxation” is therefore up to you.

Deep tissue myofascial "FasciAshi" Barefoot Massage & Structural Integration from the FEET of Jeni Spring, an award winning Licensed Massage Therapist since 2001. Relaxation is not exactly my focus, BUT the good news is that chemically, deep down to the cells of your body, a sense of relaxation happens with every ‘Deeper than Deep’ fascial therapy session that I do, even when it gets down to that “hurts so good” level of pressure! To achieve a sense of mental relaxation and escape, that is a little trickier, and up to you. Just like how outdoor yoga is about BEING IN THE MOMENT and breathing through the distractions to find peace and focus, I encourage you to take notice of your body’s inner sensations during your sessions. I’ll provide the space, and I’ll do the hard work to focus on treating your soft tissue injuries,, so that YOU can enhance your own internal body awareness and heal through a mindful meditation on the internal sensations of this massage. The sessions that I provide are Myofascial Barefoot Massage sessions set on the massage table or on a floor mat that incorporate Stretch Therapy, and soon, also Structural Integration. My goal is to give you a sense of effortlessness in your movements, better awareness of how you feel inside your body, and to rehab your strains and pains into something self-manageable. How is that possible?! Barefoot Massage offers slow moving, broad pressured, myofascial and stretch therapy techniques. My skilled feet can get just as detailed as hands, (Spoiler alert: I may still have to do some specific Structural Integration techniques with my hands ::GASP!:: But the sessions are usually 99% from my feet.) My body weight and gravity allow me to maintain consistent pressure at the depth your body “kneads.”

Your nervous system reacts to this big-footed pressure the same as if it were a weighted blanket. Your muscles won’t need to clench from the pokey pain of elbows and fingers – it can melt under the rounded surfaces of our warm, clean, smooth feet. The active movements that I guide you thru during the stretch therapy sessions will help to recalibrate the GPS of your body’s perception of pain, and the deepen the brain-body connections that neuromuscularly inform the quality of your movement. There is a lot of science in this work. Speed up your recovery time and resolve chronic pain in a session with Jeni Spring, LMT at Heeling Sole Barefoot Massage!

Our bodies can bend and adapt under pressure... but only for so long. Chronic compensation leads to densification for reinforcement, disconnection from optimal function, and sometimes all of that gets neurologically associated with a perception of pain.

When stress builds without adequate distribution throughout the system, dysfunction follows. Too much force, too little recovery or integration, and not enough space for freedom or flow… eventually, something has to give. Sometimes that's when little injuries show up, or it's when that pain stands up and speaks her peice... Nevertheless she persists!

Barefoot Massage and Structural Integration offer decompression, slow sustained input, and the chance for tissue to reorganize. In my sessions, I look for patterns of compensation in the body. Lately, it seems like these overworked, strained, dense areas of tissue have stopped paying attention to input — just doing everyone else’s job as well as their own. Burnt out, disconnected, unheard.

My role is to wake those layers back up… to show them the way, give them independence again, and help your body move with more ease. Maybe this will help you on more levels than one 😉

Did you know that Heeling Sole used to have a Yoga Studio?!

And we used to take yoga and mobility classes to Crossfit Gyms around town, too! Here's a typical view of our work environment at our offsite Mobility or Yoga classes 😂

Sensitive doesn’t equal broken.

If your body reacts strongly to light touch or minor stressors, it doesn’t mean you’re fragile. It means your nervous system is working overtime to protect you. Barefoot massage meets that sensitivity with slow, grounded pressure — helping your body feel safe enough to soften and recalibrate.

But here’s the thing: I can’t read your mind. Your nervous system is talking to you first, not me. That’s why your feedback during the session matters: tell me if the pressure feels too much, too little, or if sensations show up somewhere unexpected. That’s the map that helps me guide you out of pain.

You don’t need to push through.
You don’t need to toughen up.
You just need to feel supported — and heard.

Whether you are a client at my business or someone I meet on the street, I'm going to explain lots of things about Fascia to you at some point during our time together! Here's one of the people I look to for brain snacks to chew on: WATCH THIS and get smarter about your own body from one of my fave sources >>

Meet interoception—the sense that tells you what’s happening inside your body. Hunger, heartbeat, tension, calm… it’s all part of this internal radar and inner GPS. But stress, trauma, and chronic pain can blur those signals.

Barefoot massage uses sustained foot pressure to create space for your awareness to drop in, helping you notice cues like tension, breath, and ease. It’s not about zoning out… it’s about tuning in—a shift from disassociation to embodiment, one safe, curious step at a time.

Because when you can feel more, you can heal more, and pain fades away.

“What if pain isn’t just about what’s happening in your body—but what your brain thinks will happen?

New research shows our pain experience is shaped by expectation. If we believe something will hurt more, our brain amplifies the sensation. If we expect less pain, the nervous system may dial it down.

This is why client education and reassurance matter so much in massage therapy. When we explain what’s happening and why, we’re not just calming nerves—we’re literally changing how the brain processes sensation.

A new brain imaging study reveals that how people expect pain relief—through visual cues or treatment explanations—can significantly influence how much pain they actually feel.
