Hello Pride Family! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Our current Pride 2020 Clinic Leaders have been working hard for the clinic community during this time and want to announce that the Pride Clinic Team will be holding a virtual Town Hall Meeting on the evening of Tuesday, May 19, 2020. We want to hear from YOU! 😁

So, we are inviting all patients and community partners to attend. πŸŽ‰

At the meeting, Dr. Sean Garcia, Dr. Peter Guarnero, and the current clinic leaders will provide an overview of the telecommunication progress that has been made in recent months, review our operations and outlook, and discuss plans for renewing the promise of healthcare delivery to our current patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To our patients, please be on the lookout for more information! For community partners, if you would like to attend, feel free to message us here and we will give you more details. 😊

Will send out a separate post to the link where you can submit any questions and concerns you may have! πŸ“₯

We will be offering free flu shots on October 10th from 5-8 pm for current patients! No appointment is required, but you do have to be a patient who has already seen us in the past.

Nathan and Cassandra had the privilege of presenting their poster "Safe Space Training Expansion to Enhance LGBTQ Sensitivity Training and Clinic Competency" Saturday at the annual Community Service Learning Conference at the UT Health Center. This project was inspired by classmates' interest in increasing knowledge and clarifying misconceptions about the LGBTQ community, as well as data from the Fenway Institute in Boston and other organizations that had demonstrated that LGBTQ patients face discrimination and social stigma within health care. We felt this gave us an opportunity to educate health care providers to improve some of the issues the LGBTQ community faces. This allowed us to discuss terminology used within the LGBTQ community with which some medical providers are not familiar, and provided an opportunity to discuss how we should approach asking sensitive medical questions from members of this community. We also encourage health care providers to remind their patients that we welcome any patient to correct us if we ever say or do anything that make them feel uncomfortable. All volunteers at Pride Community Clinic have undergone this training. At PCC we remain committed to providing an environment where patients feel safe, empowered, and welcomed to express who they are while receiving medical care.
