Since July 4th, as the shock continues on, and the loving images and heart wrenching stories of loved ones appear, the call for prayer is strong. Pray for locating loved ones, pray for healing, pray for comfort, pray for peace, pray for rebuilding, pray for unity. The prayer list is endless as we cling to hope and mercy.

The shock still lingers, and the days ahead will be heavy, but Texans are a resilient and generous people and our communities are strong.

If you are able to volunteer, you are asked to register with the local Salvation Army. That number is (830) 465-4797.

As of recently, items still in need are: hygiene products, water, non-perishable food items, brooms, shovels, animal feed and trash bags

There are several online monetary platforms for monetary donations, but please verify the legitimacy of these sources.

July 4th, 2025 and the days after have been somber for cities like Kerrville, San Antonio, and Austin. The flooding has been particularly severe in Kerr County, with devastating impacts and a rising death toll along the Guadalupe River. Families intended to spend the Independence long weekend camping suddenly spiraled into a crisis. Please keep vigilant prayers. Many organizations are collecting donations, if you are able to help.

If you’re wondering where your donations of glasses go, many find new homes helping others see. For the past few years, we send glasses abroad to Oaxaca, Mexico during an annual mission.

As many of you bid farewell to your glasses know that you are bringing smiles, hope and much needed love to others.

We thank each and everyone for your donation throughout the years. Blessed are those that do not take their eyesight for granted.

Heterochromia is fascinating to see. It’s simply different iris colors. And while it’s rare in humans, it’s not in animals. That’s right, not only humans, but domestic and even wild animals can display mismatched iris colors. Heterochromia may be inherited, caused by disease, or injury.

It is important to note, certain medications, particularly those used to treat glaucoma, can also cause Heterochromia. Specifically, prostaglandin analog eye drops, used to lower eye pressure in glaucoma, can lead to iris darkening over time. This is an example of acquired Heterochromia.

Latisse, used to promote eyelash growth, is a prostaglandin and can also cause iris darkening from medication.
