👅 Could it be a tongue tie?
Swipe through to learn 5 signs that might point to one 👇

✨ Sore ni***es that don’t improve
✨ Clicking or smacking sounds while feeding
✨ Milk leaking out of baby’s mouth
✨ Low tongue posture (tongue rests on the floor of the mouth)
✨ Weight gain concerns despite frequent feeding

If you’re noticing any of these, you're not alone—and you're not doing anything wrong. A tongue tie might be making feeding harder than it needs to be.

Our IBCLCs are trained to really *see* your baby and notice things about them that might be pointing us toward answers for your infant feeding concerns. One of those things is body tension! You probably notice these things about your baby as well, but you might not know what they mean. If you notice any of these signs, talk to your IBCLC about if body work would be right for your baby! We can help you find a trusted bodyworker or connect you with our amazing in-house chiropractors!

🚨 Cow’s Milk Safety Update for Families with Littles 🍼
The FDA has paused its federal milk quality testing—here’s what that means for babies and toddlers who drink whole milk.

👶 Young children are more vulnerable to contaminants in milk due to how much they drink and their still-developing systems.

✅ We're recommending a temporary switch to ultra-pasteurized (UHT) whole milk for added safety.

💡 Learn why this matters and how to choose the best option for your family in our latest blog post.

📣 Starting solids? Let’s do it together! 🍓🥄

Around 6 months, many parents start thinking about introducing solid foods. It’s exciting (and a little nerve-wracking!), and it comes with a LOT of questions:

❓ When is my baby ready?
❓ What foods should we start with?
❓ How does this impact breastfeeding?
❓ What about allergies and iron?

💡 Did you know that lactation consultants can help guide you through the introduction of solids—while also making sure that breastfeeding continues to meet your baby’s needs?

Here’s what we can do:

✨ Help you identify signs of readiness (not just age!)
✨ Create a plan that works with your feeding goals—whether that’s baby-led weaning, purees, or a mix
✨ Make sure breastmilk (or formula) remains the primary nutrition source until age 1
✨ Educate on how to support milk supply as solids increase
✨ Talk through iron-rich first foods, allergens, and gut health

👶 Breastfeeding and solids aren’t a trade-off—they work together to nourish your baby’s growth, immunity, and development.

If you're not sure where to start, or feel overwhelmed with info, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Schedule a milestone 5-6 month visit with one of our amazing IBCLCs today!

Engorgement happens when the breasts become overly full, firm, and sometimes painful—usually in the early days of breastfeeding. Here’s how to manage it effectively, based on ABM Protocol #20:

✨ Frequent & Effective Milk Removal – Nurse on demand (at least 8-12 times per day) or express milk if needed.
❄️ Cold Therapy – Apply cold compresses or gel packs for 15-20 minutes after feeds to reduce swelling.
🫶 Reverse Pressure Softening (RPS) – Gently press and hold around the ar**la before latching to soften the tissue and help baby latch deeper.
💦 Gentle Massage & Hand Expression – Use light touch to move fluid toward the armpits, followed by hand expression if needed.
🌿 Pain Relief – Anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen (if approved by your provider) can help manage discomfort.
🚫 Avoid Excessive Pumping – Overpumping may lead to oversupply, so pump only for comfort if baby isn’t nursing well.

Engorgement is temporary but can be uncomfortable! If you need support, we’re here to help. 💕 Send us a DM or visit our website to book your visit!

🤰🏿 We truly believe breastfeeding starts in pregnancy. While your body is preparing to feed your baby, you can begin learning what it will take to meet your lactation goals!

🤰🏾 Studies show that parents who meet with a lactation consultant during pregnancy are more likely to initiate and continue breastfeeding, often for longer and with fewer challenges.

🤰🏽 Why? Because preparation matters. Learning about latch, milk supply, and what’s normal (and what’s not) before baby arrives can make all the difference. We can also help you with pumping, bottle feeding, and preparing to return to work.

🤰🏼 Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, a prenatal visit can build confidence, calm fears, and set you up for a smoother start.

🤰🏻 Curious if a prenatal lactation consult is right for you? Let’s chat—we’d love to support your journey.
