Birth and Postpartum Doulas We are a group of Certified Birth and Postpartum Doulas that provide services in San Antonio Texas and surrounding areas.

Our doula support spans a wide range of needs such as prenatal education, birth planning, gentle birth, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), cesarean recovery, breastfeeding support, multiples, overnight care, bedrest and postpartum care. We also provide Childbirth and Newborn Education classes, either in a group or private setting. Belly Casting @ 36 weeks. Monthly educational classes. Prenatal Massage

Birth trauma isn’t just about what happens to you.
It’s about what didn’t happen for you.

It’s the nurse who brushed you off.
The provider who rushed you into a decision.
The partner who didn’t know how to show up.

It’s silence in moments where there should have been reassurance.
It’s loneliness in a room full of people.

This week is Birth Trauma Awareness Week, and it’s not about scaring anyone. It’s about naming the truth:

🤍 Too many women are walking away from birth feeling abandoned, confused, and broken.

And the fallout is real.
1 in 3 postpartum deaths are due to su***de.
Let that sink in.
Not hemorrhage. Not infection.
Su***de.

Because she felt like no one saw her.
No one helped her process what she’d just gone through.
No one reminded her she mattered too.

Doulas exist to fill that gap.
Not to fix everything, because we can’t.
But to make sure she’s not alone.

We believe every woman deserves support.
Not just for a healthy baby, but for her own wellbeing, healing, and dignity.

Birth trauma is preventable.
And it starts with better support.

📣 Stop putting “I plan to eat and drink” on your birth plan. You’re not asking for a privilege—you’re claiming a right.

Laboring women aren’t patients on standby for surgery. They’re human beings doing the most physically demanding work of their lives—and they need fuel.

🧠 Research supports food and drink during labor—especially for low-risk people. But even if you’re labeled high-risk, that doesn’t mean you should be automatically denied basic nourishment. Unless there’s a specific, evidence-based medical reason, you deserve the option to eat and drink based on your needs.

So instead of writing “I plan to eat,” say:

“I do not consent to routine food or fluid restrictions during labor.”

Because you’re not there to be managed.
You’re there to give birth.
And your body knows what it needs.
