While a hospice conversation can be initiated by anyone, hospice is often first discussed in a hospital setting. We’re committed to making those conversations more comfortable and helping clear up common myths about hospice care.

Meet Nancy, one of the incredible CNAs at Heart to Heart Hospice who brings compassion and dedication to every moment!

With nearly two decades of service, she’s done it all—staffing, intake, payroll, programming, and more—always with a heart for serving others. From her beginnings to celebrating her 19th service year this past December, her dedication to compassionate care has never wavered.

When asked why she chose hospice, her answer was simple and powerful: “To serve my community.”

She finds meaning in being part of something greater than herself and credits her original team as mentors who helped shape her journey. Outside of work, she honors God, her family, and her late father—Semper Fi, Dad. 🇺🇸

One moment she holds close? “The moment I was given the opportunity to be part of this company.”

Happy Pride Month from Heart to Heart Hospice!

This month, we honor and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, embracing love, inclusivity, and the beauty of every individual’s unique journey.

It is also essential to acknowledge the unique challenges that the LGBTQ+ community faces, including healthcare disparities and the underutilization of hospice care by the LGBTQ+ community. about it. 👇

Access to hospice care is limited for many LGBTQ+ community members due to factors like lack of information, fear of discrimination, and distrust in the healthcare system. Historically, healthcare hasn't always been welcoming to these individuals, leading to discomfort in seeking care, especially for those nearing end-of-life.

LGBTQ+ individuals may be unaware of hospice benefits and how to access them due to insufficient outreach and education. To address these barriers, healthcare providers must prioritize creating safe and supportive environments, including LGBTQ+ cultural competency training and targeted education.
