Los Bexareños Genealogical and Historical Society

Los Bexareños Genealogical and Historical Society Hispanic ancestral history. The society operates the Gilbert Patino Research Center and Library located at 2300 W. Commerce
San Antonio, TX.

While the main activity of the Society is family ancestral research, society members also research the history that surrounded our ancestors; how they responded to national forces and events. Society members seek to answer how it is that we, their descendants find ourselves in this time and place and how decisions made long ago affect our present lives and in many cases directly account for our existence. Members of the society consist of individuals from a variety of occupations and life pursuits (i.e. retirees, housewives, doctors, accountants and professional genealogists).

After discovering in 1988 ,that he was a descendant of Francisca Alvarez, Mr. Garza began an in-depth journey of research into her courageous actions during the Texas Revolution.

Her story is one of compassion and bravery who risked everything to save the lives of Texian soldiers during the 1836 Goliad Massacre. Come hear the history behind the legend, and gain insight into the legacy she left behind through the eyes of a dedicated descendant.
