EMS Friends,

I have 2 conferences i will be presenting at in the fall:

1) EMS World Conference in Las Vegas, for a 4 hour hands on presentation on difficult deliveries

2) The Vital Signs EMS Conference in Rochester New York for both a 4 hour hands on presentation on assessment of the pregnant patient and a 1 hour presentation on planned home birth and EMS

If yall will be going to either conference i would love to have you as a student!

I am also always looking for ready and willing EMS agencies who want to learn about or improve their care of pregnant, laboring or postpartum patients and would be looking into a course or courses.

Big things come in small packages.

Early This morning with an eager crowd cheering him on from 2 different states, young Maddox James Cornwell entered the world.

His Parents Steven and Matti were the first couple I have worked with who transitioned from students to clients. Last night, Matti went from student to master. With incredible strength and grace she was able to achieve her dream of an all natural birth in an astonishing 5 1/2 hours!

I often tell my clients " I can be as hands on or as hands off as you need me to be, your the captain of this ship." This birth was the embodiment of that phrase. With very little help from me, Her Husband Steven and friend Ani were able to expertly support her through this delivery.

It has been a true pleasure working with the Cornwells first as their educator, then as their Doula and now as their friend as they welcomed the very first member of their family into the world. Congratulations my friends, welcome to the greatest journey life has to offer!

When was the last time you saw a true miracle?

I got the chance on Wednesday, when I had the honor of supporting the Larson’s as they brought their son into the world.

Dakotah and I made an amazing team as we supported warrior mom Emily who is easily one of the strongest women I have ever met! Little Thor Oliveray Larson came into the world at a whopping 9lbs 4 oz after a grueling 35 hour labor.

In Norse mythology Thor is a warrior God charged with protecting all of mankind. The warrior moniker is fitting as he unfortunately still has a battle ahead of him, which I have no doubt he will win mightily. I love being a Doula. It offers me the unique honor to participate in one of the greatest miracles life has to offer. No matter how many times I witness it, watching a little one come into the world is breathtakingly awesome EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It further reaffirms that I am fulfilling my life’s truest calling.

Thank you Larson Family for choosing me as your Doula. I will remember 7/11 for a long time because of your fearsome foursome!
