The Methodist Hospital Metropolitan Breast Cancer Program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers since September 2012. The Breast Center opened in August 2011 and has been committed to breast health care to improve the quality of care for patients experiencing various types of breast related conditions. All ages of both male and female patients are supported w

ith a multidisciplinary team approach ensuring the provision of continuity of care for patients with all diseases of the breast. The Metropolitan Methodist Breast Center is staffed with an RN Program Director/Nurse Navigator certified in Imaging and Cancer Care by the National Consortium of Breast Centers. Also on staff are an administrative assistant, a Medical Director and a volunteer who is a breast cancer survivor. In October of 2013, the Metropolitan Methodist Breast Center hosted approximately 50 breast cancer survivors at a luncheon in their honor. In 2013, 197 patients were supported through the Metropolitan Methodist Breast Center. 92 of these patients were diagnosed with breast cancer. Many of the patients who do not have a breast cancer diagnosis, were assisted with educational information and community resources to further follow their breast disease.

Amy Gilmour from Curtain Up Cancer Foundation also talked about the programs being offered by this great organization, including the upcoming presentation of "The Six" on June 15.
