April is Autism Acceptance Month! During this month, some AAC programs will go on sale! AAC or Augmentative and Alternative Communication can help kids who have difficulty expressing themselves with verbal speech. If you have any questions or want more information on using AAC with your child, ask one of our SLPs at your next visit. ⭐💫

April is Occupational Therapy Month! 🧡

Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants focus on the things you want and need to do in your daily life. Occupational therapy intervention uses everyday life activities (occupations) to promote health, well-being, and your ability to participate in the important activities in your life. This includes any meaningful activity that a person wants to accomplish, including taking care of yourself and your family, working, volunteering, going to school, among many others. (AOTA 2024).

A child's occupation is to grow, learn, do schoolwork, and play. Occupational therapy (OT) helps children who have physical, sensory, cognitive or neurological challenges. OT helps them do everyday things like eating, putting on shoes and socks, focusing on learning, writing, and playing with toys or other kids.

Champion Pediatric Therapy was founded with the vision to be San Antonio's most unique place for pediatric therapy. Children experiencing NDD may demonstrate a delay in developmental milestones, physical abilities, social skills, daily activities, and/or speech & language skills.
