Pay It Forward SA Holistic sober housing solutions empowering long-term recovery 90% of all men and women relapse within the first 90 days of leaving treatment or detox.

Without a positive, safe and encouraging environment in which to live these newly recovering individuals hardly stand a chance. And rather than following the program of recovery they inevitably fall back into their old patterns and end up addicted and on the street again. Every day, we help heal the devastating effects of addiction by providing structured residential and assistance programs that reduce & prevent homelessness, unemployment, poverty and crime caused by substance abuse.

Please join us in welcoming Michael Johnston to the Pay It Forward SA Board of Directors! 🎉

Michael brings more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a career that has taken him from East Texas refineries to the North Slope oil fields of Alaska. Today, he serves as Director of Public Engagement at Howard Energy Partners, where he has held several leadership roles over the past eight years.

In addition to his professional work, Michael is deeply committed to service and leadership in the community. He currently serves as president of the San Antonio Pipeliners Association and the Midstream America Scholarship Fund, both dedicated to supporting and developing professionals in the industry.

We are grateful for Michael’s leadership, heart for service, and commitment to strengthening our community. Welcome to the Pay It Forward SA family! 💙

This past Saturday, some of our Sober Living Dorm Program residents spent the day giving back by volunteering alongside the Brackenridge Park Conservancy team to help with litter and brush clean-up at the Sunken Garden Theater.

Opportunities like this foster unity, service, and connection, all powerful parts of the recovery journey. We’re proud of our residents for showing up and investing in their community.

Please join us in welcoming Page Pressley to the Pay It Forward SA Board of Directors! 🎉

Page’s journey began in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he discovered his love for cooking at a young age. After formal training at the Culinary Institute of America, he went on to work in highly acclaimed kitchens including Le Cirque, Uchi, and Emmer & Rye.

Today, Page is the founder of The Newstand, a vibrant neighborhood hub, and is preparing to expand the concept with The Dispatch in early 2026.

We are grateful for Page’s leadership, creativity, and heart for community. We’re honored to have him join our Board as we continue advancing our mission and impact in San Antonio. Welcome to the Pay It Forward SA family, Page! 💙

Over the past week, the Pay It Forward SA community has truly shown up. đź’™
Because of your generosity, $1,700 has been raised to support Rene Westfall, one of our alumni, as he courageously battles Stage 4 throat cancer.

We couldn’t be prouder of this community and the way you’ve rallied around one of our own. This is what it means to pay it forward!

We’re so close to our $2,500 goal, which will help Rene remain housed in his sober living home while continuing treatment. Every share, donation, and prayer makes a difference.

The night was extra special because we also got to present Kari, our Lead Recovery Coach who is also an Oxford House Alumni, her 10-year chip! Congratulations, Kari!

One of our Sober Living Dorm Program alumni, Rene Westfall, needs our support.

Rene has been sober since March 1, 2022, and is currently battling Stage 4 throat cancer. Due to the intensity of treatment, he has been forced to stop working and is now at risk of losing his sober living home during this fight.

During his time at Pay It Forward SA, he worked hard at his recovery. He gained employment with a landscaping company, enrolled at San Antonio College, and successfully graduated. After completing the dorm program he continued his journey living in an Oxford House and has been studying to earn his real estate license.

We’re asking our community to pay it forward for Rene. Every donation helps cover housing and basic living expenses so he can remain in sober living while continuing treatment.
