The Department of Respiratory Care at UT Health San Antonio had a busy, but GREAT, Friday filled with Inter-professional education! Started off with a lecture to Medical students about proper use of various respiratory devices and ended with our day 2 of Pulmonary lab teaching spirometry interpretation, spirometry performance, and reviewing Inhalers with Medical students. Congratulations to one of our graduates, Kyla Michelle, for being recognized as the ICARE Employee of the Month!!! Very proud of you!👏

Join us in celebrating Kyla, who has truly gone above and beyond since joining the Respiratory Care team in September as a new graduate. From day one, her positive energy, eagerness to learn, and willingness to contribute have set her apart as a rising star. Despite her short time with us, Kyla has already advanced to the role of ICU Respiratory Therapist, consistently showing professionalism, grace, and poise—even in the most challenging, life-saving situations.

Kyla’s impact extends beyond her clinical skills. She volunteered to decorate department pumpkins, started a book club, organized the department’s holiday Secret Santa event, and took charge of the communication board to celebrate birthdays and increase team engagement. Kyla’s idea of a "doggie wall" to bring some joy to the department is just one example of how she lifts the spirits of everyone around her.

Her dedication, positivity, and embodiment of our ICARE values make her a standout team member, and we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate Kyla as our Employee of the Month. 🎉👏
