POV: You think vendors just “show up” to events 😂

Yesterday’s King William Fair work day started at 6:30am and ended after 8pm — with enough loading, unloading, setting up, breaking down, re-loading, smiling, sweating, and carrying random bins to count as an Olympic sport! 💪

I had every intention of giving y’all a cute little “get ready with me”… but my dogs woke up and chose chaos that morning. 🙄

Being a vendor is definitely its own subculture. We’re part small business owner, part mover, part event planner, part salesperson, part comedian, part problem solver… and somehow still expected to look cute by opening time.

It’s exhausting, unpredictable, and a little unhinged at times — but it’s also one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

So grateful for everyone who stopped by, supported, shopped, shared kind words, or just showed love yesterday. Y’all make the long days worth it every single time. Fiesta forever 💐🎉

A little update for this year: we won’t be on Madison Street like usual because I signed up a little too late… oops 😅 BUT we’re excited because it’ll be our first year on Turner Street, and we have a feeling it’s going to be a great spot!

Turns out when corporations collapse, it’s the small businesses who get buried in the rubble. 💅🌳

On Tuesday, we got an email saying all Painted Tree locations were closing immediately and vendors had 10 days to clear out our spaces. No warning, no plan, no accountability — just hundreds of small business owners displaced overnight.

Our San Antonio location alone had 200+ businesses inside. Multiply that across 60 stores nationwide. Families, artists, makers, dreamers… all left to figure it out while the people at the top file bankruptcy and walk away.

So yes, I made this reel funny, because sometimes humor is how you survive nonsense. I called in the gay cavalry (another le***an and a trans man) with determination and excellent taste to help me break down my shop. 🌈✨

But truly — this hurts. And I stand with every vendor affected by this mess.

If you’ve ever wanted to support a small business, now is the time. We are still at our markets every weekend, we post our schedule every Friday, and you can always shop online.

To everyone who has checked in, shared kind words, or shown up for us: thank you. We feel it deeply.

Since September 2022, this space has meant so much to us. We’ve loved meeting so many of you in person, sharing our products, and being part of your everyday routines. Your support at this location helped us grow in ways we’ll always be grateful for. 🥲

While this chapter is ending, In The Weeds is NOT closing. You can still shop with us online and find us at our local markets — we’re not going anywhere.💪

This market has been part of San Antonio for 13 years, and I’ve been there since the very beginning. Watching it come to a close is truly bittersweet. SoFlo helped shape this community, supported so many small businesses, and created something really special.
