LUNA CRECIENTE DEL 9 DE SEPTIEMBRE ¡CASI LLENA!
Las grandes manchas oscuras son los famosos mares de la Luna, éstos son redondos, pues son depósitos de lava endurecida que llenó cuencas excavadas por antiguos asteroides. Las caminatas lunares se hicieron principalmente en estas vastas planicies. Con mucha imaginación, estos mares dibujan a una liebre de perfil, saltando. Curiosamente, en varias culturas imaginaron esa liebre o conejo, no sólo por los contornos oscuros de los mares, sino que el ciclo de lunaciones es parecido al ciclo femenino, y la liebre es un símbolo de fertilidad. Otras culturas imaginaron ver en la Luna a un escarabajo, un sapo o la cara de un hombre.
Además de los mares, se observan también numerosos cráteres, resultados del impacto de cometas y asteroides a gran velocidad.
