🧠💬 Talking to Your Child About Emotions Matters

Children feel deeply—just like adults—but they don’t always have the words to express what’s going on inside.

✨ Here are a few simple ways to help them open up:

👂 Listen First – Give them space to talk without jumping in to “fix” right away. Sometimes they just need to feel heard.

🧸 Name the Feeling – Help them label emotions: “You seem really sad,” or “That sounds frustrating.” This builds emotional vocabulary.

📚 Use Stories & Play – Books, drawings, and pretend play are great tools for helping kids express big feelings in small, safe ways.

💖 Validate, Don’t Dismiss – Even if it seems small to you, it’s big to them. Saying “That must be really hard” goes a long way.

🌱 Model Healthy Emotions – Kids learn by watching. It’s okay to say, “I’m feeling overwhelmed, so I’m going to take some deep breaths.”
