This National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we highlight the impact HIV and AIDS continues to have on women and girls across the United States, and the ongoing efforts to change the story.

Despite accounting for 19% of new HIV diagnoses in 2023, women living with HIV remain underrepresented in the conversation. Black women are particularly impacted, representing nearly half of all new HIV diagnoses among women. Yet women comprised only 9% of PrEP users in 2024, a gap that demands our attention.

Thank you for reminding us that education is one of the most powerful tools we have.
