Join our Team! We are hiring a Medical Assistant for our clinic.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the clinic manager and providing patient care consistent with the mission of the San Antonio AIDS Foundation under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician. The MA acts as the liaison to physicians to assure patient satisfaction with their visit.

This position is responsible for patient flow management, patient safety, performing phlebotomy, Point of Care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens and the safe operation of medical equipment. The MA maintains and orders the clinical and non-clinical supplies for their area. The Medical Assistant addresses patient questions/concerns using physician protocols.

This position demands a high level of cultural competency of the unique needs of the LGBTQIA++ community, communities of color, and other marginalized populations

Today on World AIDS Day we welcomed community members and clients for our open house and memorial ceremony. The space filled with stories, reflection, and updates about the work each SAAF department does. During the ceremony we heard from our speakers and said the names of people we have lost to HIV and AIDS.

Today we remember those we lost and we recognize the progress made in treatment and prevention. Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U), and treatment helps people live long and healthy lives with HIV.

Thank you to the SAAF staff for your work today and every day. We invite you to visit SAAF, ask questions, and start conversations about sexual health.

Your recognition of our meal program means a lot to our team. We serve people living with HIV every day of the year, and your donation strengthens this work. You help our community stay healthy and supported.

This is what knocked out our water today.

Good news is that by the end of the day, water was back on. So barring unforeseen circumstances as SAWS continues repairs, SAAF will be open as usual Tuesday 11/25.

1:48 pm UPDATE: SAWS crews have been on-site since early this morning to replace approx. 15 feet of a 24-inch water main that ruptured overnight. Both directions of Broadway (at Grayson) are currently closed to ensure safe access for construction equipment and removal of dirt/debris.

Repairs are expected to be completed, and the roadway reopened later tonight. Final asphalt restoration may occur at a later date.
This break is part of a trend linked to the ongoing six-year drought, which has contributed to increased water main failures throughout the summer & fall. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

⚠️SAWS crews are on-site at a 24-inch water main break that occurred overnight at Broadway north of Josephine. Valves are being adjusted to minimize effects of the break. Please avoid the area while crews make repairs.

Closed Today -Mon 11/24.

Sorry y’all. A water main broke on Grayson St which means no water in our building so we can not have normal operations today. SAWS is on it, so hopefully we’ll be back up tomorrow.

Clinic, Pharmacy, Testing, Cafe SAAF all closed.
