Our care is built on the expertise and passion of doctors.

Without their knowledge and their heart for others, our patients wouldn’t receive the quality of care that they do.

Happy to these vital players in the care journey!

When people with MS enter hospice, their bodies have experienced years of nerve damage.

At this point in their lives, injury may have reached critical nerves that control swallowing and breathing.

Hospice addresses the discomfort that comes with these impacts through methods, medications, and strategies that bring peace.

Happy first day of spring and all the health benefits it brings!

Sunlight has been shown to increase serotonin, improving our mood.

If you can, take a moment today to enjoy a sign of spring, whether that’s sunlight, fresh air, or a bird chirping.

There is still so much we don’t know about our brains and dying, but research indicates that hearing may be one of the last senses to fade.

So keep talking, singing, and praying. Your loved one may be listening.

Digestive issues, including nausea, constipation, or difficulty swallowing, are some of the most distressing symptoms a patient can face.

For families caring for a loved one with kidney failure, one symptom often comes with a lot of distress: The Itch.

It’s called pruritus, and it’s caused by a buildup of toxins that the kidneys can no longer filter.

An important part of hospice care is tackling symptoms that interrupt comfort. Through specialized lotions, medications, and care techniques, we help soothe the skin and calm the restlessness, allowing your loved one to finally rest comfortably.

For standard hospice patients, curative treatments stop. But for patients with hemophilia, factor is about preventing pain as much as it is about stopping bleeding.

For hemophilia patients who need end-of-life care, choose a hospice agency like ours that understands complex conditions and will fight for the help you need.

Can’t seem to catch a breath? Try pursed lip breathing.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Relax your neck and shoulders.
2. Inhale slowly through your nose for 2 counts.
3. Pucker your lips as if you are about to whistle or blow out a candle.
4. Exhale slowly through your mouth for 4 counts.

This is one of many techniques taught in Pulmonary Rehab to improve breathing. Exercise training, energy conservation, and nutritional counseling are part of this practice to help patients breathe more easily.

Losing an hour of sleep disrupts all of us, but it may be particularly impactful to those at higher risk of heart attack or stroke. Research shows that both medical emergencies are more common in the days after a time change.

There’s no need to panic; however, just be aware of the signs and contact emergency medical services if necessary: https://nuvi.me/eliohf
