Recognizing the signs of an infection is key to preventing wound-related complications.

Here are the 4 common warning signs we want YOU to be on the lookout for:
1. Redness & Swelling - While both of these are often a normal part of the healing process, if redness spreads or swelling worsens, this may be a sign of an infection.
2. Increased Pain - The levels of pain in a wound vary depending on the severity, and an unusual and unbearable increase in pain is cause for concern.
3. Pus & Drainage - There are healthy levels of drainage, but signs of thick yellow/green drainage or pus are obvious signs of infection.
4. Wound Feels Warm - An infection may be present if the wound begins to feel hot to the touch.

If you are experiencing one or more of these signs, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible. Contact us today if you have questions or concerns about a wound.

Heart Health Tip #2

An active lifestyle and maintaining a healthy weight are two important factors that help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

According to guidelines from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, adults should aim for 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-level physical activity per week, which adds up to about 20 to 30 minutes per day.

Incorporating regular physical activity into your day can help reduce chronic inflammation, slow the progression of diabetes, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and help keep weight under control.

Have questions? We are happy to help.
