Thank you, San Antonio hospitality industry, San Antonio explorers and San Antonio visitors, for supporting my business for 10 fantastically delicious years. We have had a #1 ranking on TripAdvisor for most of those years, and have been featured in national, international, local and regional media outlets. It’s been a blast.
Food tours were new when I began this business in 2015 and I still encounter people who have never taken a food tour. But they’re a booming travel trend now and I urge you to find a LOCAL tour company wherever you go. Take a few hours to explore the area with someone who knows the food history, the independent restaurants, the local artisinal food-makers and the dining culture beyond the national chains. Ask for recommendations. Try new things. Roam the streets. Get off the beaten track.
Food tours have become such a “thing” that national companies are launching in cities around the world. I urge you to resist booking with them and spend 10 minutes more researching a truly locally owned and operated company. Support local/independent business owners wherever you go. And support culinary expertise wherever you go too.
I’m pleased to be handing the menus to two new partners at the table: Janet Woltman-Anderson and Scott Anderson. She’s a food scientist with deep knowledge of all things food and he’s a history fiend and active member of the Professional Tour Guide Association of San Antonio. He’s a San Antonio native and she’s from nearby.
Janet and Scott have rebranded as San Antonio Food Experiences and will be offering the same level of local focus as I did with Food Chick Tours. I’ll be working with (and for) them for the foreseeable future - but it’s their business to shape and run. I could not be more excited for them as they follow their dream of owning and operating a food tour company. Find them here:
