Army Medicine is not just preparing for the future of health care — it is helping shape it.

MG Paula Lodi joined health care and innovation leaders at eMerge Americas to bring an Army Medicine perspective to how technology, workforce development and global partnerships can strengthen care in complex environments.

From the battlefield to the bedside, Army medical research continues to drive solutions that protect the force, support readiness and improve outcomes for those we serve.

Army Medicine honored the legacy of DUSTOFF and the units whose courage shaped lifesaving combat care across generations during a plaque unveiling at the National Museum of the United States Army.

The semiannual ceremony commemorated Army Medicine aviation units, including the 54th Medical Detachment, 159th Medical Company, 377th Medical Company, 57th Medical Detachment and 101st Airborne Eagle DUSTOFF. These units represent a legacy of rapid response, battlefield evacuation and selfless service that continues to inform how Army Medicine delivers combat-ready care today.

The event included remarks from Army Medicine leaders and DUSTOFF veterans, including MG (Ret.) and Medal of Honor recipient Patrick Brady, pictured shaking hands with Lt. Gen. Mary K. Izaguirre, The Surgeon General of the Army and commanding general of U.S. Army Medical Command. BG (Ret.) Doyle is pictured delivering remarks during the event.

Their stories are more than history — they are reminders of the courage, innovation and commitment that continue to drive Army Medicine’s mission to save lives on and off the battlefield.

When demand for chemical defense expertise rises, Army Medicine must be ready. MRDC’s work helps strengthen protection, sharpen preparedness, and support the force in complex environments.

Over the past three years, requests tripled for expertise with chemical warfare defense. Dr. Daniel P. Nogee, chief of consultation at the Chemical Casualty Care Division of the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense, states it plainly: “Today, chemical defense has a dual purpose. It protects the victims, but it also changes the risk calculus of our adversaries, who may be deterred from attacking if they believe it won’t succeed.”

Seventh and eighth graders at Ramstein Middle School became environmental detectives for a day, tackling “The Mystery of the Ailing Ram” alongside experts from Public Health Command Europe. Through hands-on investigation, students analyzed water and soil samples, studied insect life, and applied real-world environmental health techniques to solve the case.
