During that time, he was promoted to Chief of Plastic Surgery and then continued to rise in his field, becoming the Commander of Surgical Sub Specialities then the Plastic Surgery Consultant to the Surgeon General. He received a Legion of Merit Award for his time served in Afghanistan and for his career Air Force achievements.
