Texas summers are no joke, especially for older adults. 🌞💛
As temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat-related illness. Here’s how you can help keep yourself or your loved ones safe and comfortable for the rest of the season:
➜ Stay Hydrated– Aim for water throughout the day, even if you’re not thirsty. Limit caffeine and alcohol.
➜Dress for the heat– Light colored, loose fitting clothing keeps your body cooler.
➜ Avoid peak heat hours– Plan walks, errands, or gardening early in the morning or in the evening.
➜ Keep the indoors nice and cool– Use fans, close curtains during the hottest hours, and run the A/C when possible.
➜ Know the signs of heat stroke– Watch for dizziness, headaches, confusion, or nausea. Seek help immediately if symptoms occur.
➜ Check In Often– If you have an older loved one, a quick daily call or visit can make all the difference.
Comfort and safety matter, remember these steps to make the rest of summer a safe one! 🌿
