Speech and language are related—but they’re not the same thing.

Speech = how sounds and words are produced.
Language = how we understand and use words.

Example: A child might say words clearly…but struggle to understand instructions or form sentences. That’s a language difficulty.

Understanding the difference helps guide the right support.
