Let's talk about Type 2 Diabetes (Ep. 22)

In this episode of SAC Health Answers, Dr. Jason Lohr tackles a common question about managing Type 2 Diabetes through lifestyle changes: If you lower your A1C from 7.0 to 6.3 through lifestyle changes alone, are you still considered diabetic?

Understanding your Hemoglobin A1C is crucial for long-term health management. While a daily finger-prick gives you a snapshot, the A1C provides the "big picture" of your blood sugar over the last 2–3 months. Dr. Lohr explains what it means to be in "diabetes remission" and why maintaining those healthy habits is the key to staying off medication.

Key Takeaway:
Achieving an A1C below 6.5 without medication is a massive accomplishment, but your medical history and underlying tendencies remain. Always consult with your primary care provider before making any changes to your prescribed treatment plan.

Let's talk about... Sleep Aids and Insomnia in Your 40s (Ep. 21)

Tired of being tired? In your 40s, balancing a high-stress career with physiological changes can make falling asleep feel like a secondary job. Before you reach for a bottle of sleep aids, Dr. Jason Lohr breaks down what you actually need to know about the "why" behind your insomnia.

In this episode of SAC Health Answers, we explore:

The Root Cause: Why office stress and blue light might be overdriving your brain.

OTC vs. Melatonin: The pros, cons, and the "groggy" trap of antihistamines.

The Risk of Dependency: Why your brain might "forget" how to fall asleep naturally.

Whole-Person Solutions: How behavioral health and stress management provide long-term relief without the side effects of medication.

At SAC Health, we believe in getting to the root of the problem rather than just masking symptoms. If you're struggling with chronic insomnia, your primary care provider is your partner in health.

New episode alert! 🎧 In Episode 19 of SAC Health Answers, host Dr. Lohr tackles the multi-billion dollar question: What role does nutritional supplementation actually play in your health?

Dr. Lohr cuts through the noise to explain why you "cannot out-supplement a bad diet" and identifies the specific moments when a vitamin stops being an "extra" and starts acting as vital medicine.

In this episode, Dr. Lohr breaks down:

No Substitute for Real Food: Why the fiber and phytochemicals in an orange can't be replaced by a pill.

When it’s a Necessity: The truth about Vitamin D for immunity, and Iron for plant-based diets or heavy periods.

Test Don't Guess: Why your first step should be a blood panel to treat what is actually low.

Safety & Quality: How to find third-party tested products (USP/NSF) and avoid dangerous medication interactions.
