*They enable people to retain THEIR autonomy
*Midwives ADVOCATE for their client’s

WHO's emphasis on midwives' roles can lead to better pregnancy outcomes by:

1. Encouraging personalized care:
Continuous support from midwives fosters trust and understanding.
2. Risk management:
Midwives can identify potential issues and collaborate with physicians if/when need arises.
3. Holistic approach: Multidisciplinary care considers physical, emotional, and social aspects of care.

By promoting this approach, WHO aims to reduce disparities and improve maternal and infant health worldwide.

Seeking Midwifery Care offers a multitude of benefits with optimal outcomes.

The World Health Organization (WHO) today released new guidance to help countries adopt and expand midwifery models of care - where midwives serve as the main care provider for women and babies throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

Honoured to be a midwife and to work in what I consider to be the most beautiful and professionally fulfilling job in the world.

At the OBHG National Leadership Convention 2024.

I met up with fellow midwife and my good friend Mary along with our OB colleagues.

The convention was highly inspirational.

The gathering brought together midwives and OB physicians nationwide, demonstrating unified leadership.

This represents significant progress in modernizing U.S. obstetric practices through midwifery and OB collaboration.

Midwives play a vital role in improving maternal morbidity and mortality, and our collaborative practice with OB’s enhances this further.

The key to advancing safe practices lies in mutual respect, recognition of each others roles/skills and abilities along with joint collaboration.

The future is bright.
