I celebrate my colleagues, past and present, for their tireless dedication to empowering women and families.

Our work is incredibly rewarding, yet also presents challenges that can be emotionally demanding.

Despite the obstacles, we persevere, driven by our passion for making a difference.

I salute each and every one of you for your remarkable work, and I am inspired by the resilience and compassion that defines our profession.

Together, we are catalysts for positive change, and I am honored to be part of this community.

Midwives role is extensive and covers many aspects of care.

Most importantly, midwives are PRESENT throughout one’s pregnancy journey.
This is a unique quality and one of immense importance.

A midwife’s ‘Presence’ means:
*They get to know their client’s and their families
*They LISTEN to those whom seek their services
*They Offer SUPPORT and Guidance
*They provide evidence based education
*They work in partnership with those under their care
*Midwives ‘Network’ with and ‘Collaborate’ with multidisciplinary professionals
*They enable people to retain THEIR autonomy
*Midwives ADVOCATE for their client’s

WHO's emphasis on midwives' roles can lead to better pregnancy outcomes by:

1. Encouraging personalized care:
Continuous support from midwives fosters trust and understanding.
2. Risk management:
Midwives can identify potential issues and collaborate with physicians if/when need arises.
3. Holistic approach: Multidisciplinary care considers physical, emotional, and social aspects of care.

By promoting this approach, WHO aims to reduce disparities and improve maternal and infant health worldwide.

Seeking Midwifery Care offers a multitude of benefits with optimal outcomes.

The World Health Organization (WHO) today released new guidance to help countries adopt and expand midwifery models of care - where midwives serve as the main care provider for women and babies throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

To one of the oldest professions in the world. Join me in celebrating this day with WHO who has hosted a webinar on this year's theme,
"Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis," WHICH highlights the indispensable role midwives play in humanitarian and emergency settings around the world.

Honoured to be a midwife and to work in what I consider to be the most beautiful and professionally fulfilling job in the world.
