They bombard us with images, often digitally altered, of what they deem to be the standards. And the emphasis is almost always on outer beauty and youth, especially for women.

Yes, diet culture and ageism are inextricably linked.

And to create demand for their products and services, their marketing machines use messaging based on the premise that this is what we should aspire to look like.

Unfortunately, if you buy into it, you're often left feeling less than and not enough - hoping that when you buy and use their stuff, you'll feel better about yourself.

It's why "anti-aging" anything is so popular.

And if you're waiting for other people to evolve in their thinking in order to feel better about yourself, you're giving your power away.
