Congratulations to our very own Dr. Carliza Marcos! She was installed as the President of the California Dental Association this past weekend. CDA is the largest state dental organization in the nation, with a membership of 27,800 California dentists. As the 7th woman and 2nd Filipina in CDA’s 154 year history to serve in this role, she will be representing the dentists of California and protecting the patients we serve.

Shared by Dr. Carliza about her recent mission to Mindanao, Philippines:

My dear friend, Dr. Melanie Vallejos, started this mission with the Maui Assembly of the First Born Pentecostal Church over fifteen years ago. The “Smiles of Hawaii” mission has developed into a well organized small core group of dentists, hygienist and dental assistant from Maui(and one Cali gal!😊) serving the people of different provinces of the Philippines.

Our mission to Panoan Northern Mindanao, Philippines was particularly special not only because it was our first one post pandemic….but also because we adopted an adorable dog for the week.

Heinz is one of the pastor’s dogs. His hair was extremely matted and tangled, and he wouldn’t let anyone touch or bathe him for years. It became our “mission” to help this poor dog. After two attempts at trying to sedate him ourselves with benadryl and a sleeping pill (we googled the safe dosage), we wrangled him to a vet an hour away. For 2000 pesos (equivalent to $35) , he was sedated, vaccinated and groomed! Our Rasta dreadlocked Tazmanian Devil four-legged creature transformed into an adorable, loving comfort dog who just wanted to hang out in the clinic while we worked. We all want to sneak him into our luggage home!

If you hadn’t had a chance to meet him yet, please help us welcome our new associate, Dr. Nes Morales. He has been assisting us with our hygiene/recare visits as an opportunity to meet our family of patients.

Dr. Nes Martin Morales is thrilled to join the Marcos & Marcos DDS team. He was born and raised in the Bay Area. After majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry at the University of San Francisco, Dr. Morales received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Southern California in 2018. Dr. Morales is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and currently serves on the leadership committee for the San Mateo County Dental Society. When Dr. Morales is not in the office, he enjoys traveling, cooking, and riding around the Peninsula on his bike.

Dr. Anthony Marcos traveled to Las Vegas for Sirona World dental convention last month. He attended multiple courses in advance digital dentistry including classes in Cerec (all porcelain) restorations design, dental restoration bonding and digital implant workflow. He was also able to enjoy a Beef Wellington dinner at the famous, Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen.

We are sad to announce that today was our beloved Beth’s last day at our office. For the past ten years, she has been the friendly face you saw assisting the doctors chairside and making sure that the back office ran smoothly. She has not only been a reliable team member, but is a treasured friend to staff and patients alike. Beth has decided to pursue a career as a dental equipment trainer. We will miss her cheerful disposition at the office, but wish her luck and success with her new endeavor.
