Your feet are your foundation—and they’re talking to your low back.
Many people don’t realize that low back pain often starts in the feet.
Why? Because your feet support everything above them—posture, alignment, movement, and nervous system regulation.
Here’s why foot health matters and what you can do about it:
1. Barefoot is powerful
Going barefoot (especially on natural ground) helps activate the small muscles in your feet, improve proprioception (balance + awareness), and reconnect you with the earth—literally grounding your nervous system.
2. The wrong shoes can shift your spine
Narrow toe boxes, over-padded soles, and poor arch support can alter your gait, tilt your pelvis, and strain your low back. Opt for shoes that allow toes to spread and heels to stay aligned.
3. Toe spacers = foot freedom
Toe spacers help realign the foot structure, strengthen muscles, and reverse the effects of tight shoes. When your toes are free, your entire body moves better.
4. Chiropractic foot adjustments make a difference
Just like the spine, feet benefit from gentle adjustments. Blair chiropractic + foot alignment work can reduce tension all the way up the kinetic chain—knees, hips, and low back.
5. Your feet are sensory tools
There are over 200,000 nerve endings in the soles of your feet. Healthy, activated feet send better signals to the brain and spine, creating more balance, stability, and ease in your body.
Start with this:
• Walk barefoot for 5–10 minutes a day
• Use toe spacers during downtime
• Choose shoes with wide toe boxes
• Schedule a foot + spine assessment with us
Your feet are more than just a base—they’re your body’s foundation. Start there.
