When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but can only sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit —
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometime learns.
And many a soul has turned about
When they might have won had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow —
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a tired and burdened man;
Often the fighter has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out —
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit —
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

But beyond the rhyme, there’s truth to face:
For many among us feel out of place.
Autistic minds, so deep, so bright,
Still wrestle demons out of sight.
They wear a mask, they fight to cope,
In silent battles, they search for hope.

The numbers haunt — they chill, they sting:
One in three think of ending everything.
A quarter have tried, in shadows unseen,
While the world spins on in a well-oiled machine.
They’re eight times more likely to fade too soon,
While we hum to life’s indifferent tune.

Some find escape in a poisoned glass,
Trying to numb what they cannot surpass.
Nine times more likely to self-medicate,
Chasing peace through a darker gate.
But the answer lies not in the pill or the flame,
Not in silence, nor in shame.

Violence festers when hearts go unheard,
When no one listens, believes, or offers a word.
School hallways echo with pain and despair,
And sometimes the rage erupts from there.
Not monsters, but minds pushed too far —
Caged by a system with too many scars.

Yet hope is a fire we must fan with care,
With truth, with help, with voices that dare.
So here we stand, with a mission clear:
To save a life, to draw one near.
To say — “You matter, your light’s not done,
Your battle’s not over — the war can be won.”

We speak to prevent what we still can change,
To bring support to those out of range.
We speak of su***de, not with fear —
But with courage, so the path is clear.
We shine a light on substance use,
On healing paths, and kinder truths.

We march for peace within the schools,
For empathy over rigid rules.
For mental health and open doors,
For children pushed onto distant shores.

And more than that — we aim to inspire,
To raise up dreams from funeral pyres.
To say to every soul cast aside:
“You’re not broken — you’re dignified.”

Your mind, your way, your voice, your spark —
Are stars that shimmer through the dark.
Rest if you must — but rise, don’t quit,
There’s greatness in you yet to be lit.

Let’s be the hand that lifts the weight,
The voice that breaks through walls of hate.
Let’s fight for love, for truth, for grace —
And build a kinder, safer place.

Hi,
I wanted to share some autism related statistics and ask the question are you surprised the numbers are not larger?
Population-wide studies in the US, Sweden and Taiwan show that autistic people are up to seven times more likely to die by su***de1-2 and six times more likely to attempt su***de than the general population. 3 The risk of death by su***de is even greater for autistic people without intellectual disabilities!!

APOLOGIES ahead of time if what I am about suggest is misunderstood!!

Maybe I don't know enough to have a right to talk about this, but it occurred to me that there are group homes in the US for people with disabilities, those group homes have paid staff. some have volunteers, there are also host homes for foreign exchange students!!

My suggestion is to have a similar system in place for immigrants!!
