I remember the first time someone touched my psoas. 😯

It was my first Rolfer - I came in for a session with serious low back pain.

I thought to myself.... why is this guy digging into my belly? I said my low back was hurting. 🧐

As he lowered his fingers down I remember feeling scared.. guarded, and I wanted to run out of the room. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ ✌️

Slowly, focusing on my breath and my intention of welcoming relief by any means necessary... I allowed him to continue, and finally he made contact.

It felt bizarre, strange, unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

Afterward I went for my walk around the room... puzzled. I was wondering where my pain had gone. For the first time in months, it simply... wasn't there. mind blown 🀯

This was only the beginning of my healing process, but I finally felt like the solution I was looking for was real.. it existed and I was finally on my way back to my wild and free self. πŸ™Œ

In the words of Dr Rolf, "Where you think it is, it ain't."

The beautiful thing about this work is, once you learn to overcome your own resistance to change... possibilities are endless. πŸ€—

Before I was a Structural Integration Practitioner I was an impulse traveler. 🌎

Any chance I got to take a road trip, or a flight I took it. πŸš— ✈️

Now the way my practice has been structured, I can book out as far as up to 6 weeks in advance. πŸ“…

As you can imagine this changed my relationship with traveling. πŸ—Ί

I got offered the opportunity to do a Structural Integration continuing education class called Rolfing on the river. Sadly the continuing education class portion was dropped, but I was already invested in this trip, so I decided to go anyway. 🌞

I just surfaced from spending a week rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

I had trained for months leading up the hiking up the Bright Angel's Trail (shout out to ) for being part of my support system through my training. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

If I'm going to be the best provider I can be, I also have to work diligently to tend to my own needs and desires as I would encourage any of my clients, colleagues and friends to do the same. βš–οΈ

In a perfect world there will always be room to find balance between work and play. Tending to self and tending to others. I know I can struggle with this balance but I'm grateful for all the support I received in pursuing this bucket list travel dream. πŸͺ£

In the words of , I'd like to thank me. πŸ’ͺ

This was a wild ride, flipping over in a paddle boat through rapids, hiking in the highest temperatures I've ever been in, choosing training over hanging with friends, this was no easy task. πŸ‘

I'll always seek to be a living example of making dreams come true, I hope as you read this it ignites a spark inside yourself to do the same. πŸ’«

Control

Recognizing what is in your control and what is it of your control BOY will that save you a whole lot of stress and worry. 🀯

When practicing being present through the work, I often invite clefts to sit in the observer view of themselves.

🍁 How do you speak to yourself?
🍁 Do you take on responsibilities that aren't yours?
🍁 Do the opinions of others shape how you feel and think about yourself?
🍁 Can you articulate your needs and wants clearly to others?
🍁 Can you simply recognize what is and is not within your control?

After a gentle gaze into some of these questions it often becomes more and more obvious that a lot of the stuff were "holding onto" isn't ever ours, and very likely might not even be in your control!

Let it go! ✌️

Recognize what is within your control.πŸ’«

Be conscious about what you take on. 🧐

And when it aint yours to own, don't own it. πŸ‘‹

Part of being a practitioner is facilitating a client's experience in recognizing what's happening within their bodies -live- and in the moment.

Bridging the gap between their mind and their body.πŸ’«

Empowering them in recognizing they have liberty and choice about how they experience their bodies and if it isn't serving them, they have the power to change it.

First we start with awareness.

What's happening within me?

How can I use that data to become more conscious of my patterns? 🧐

I encourage them to speak through the lens of thoughts, feelings and sensations.

"As I am sitting here I notice I feel a tightness in my chest because I'm anxious wondering about whether or not this work can help me."

The integration process is learning how to observe your own body's experience, and using that awareness to shift away from old patterns of behavior and waking up in the moment that undertow of your old behaviors is beginning to pull you, pausing, noticing and making a different decision to create a different outcome. 🌊

Each session I start with an invitation for my client to stand, close their eyes and scan their whole body.

What's present in your body in this moment? πŸ€”

"As I'm standing here I noticing more weight in my right foot than my left."

"When I take a moment to check in with my body I notice a clenching in my glutes."

"Checking in with myself I feel a tension in my neck and my shoulders, as I notice them and take a deep breath I invite a little more softness in my stance."

First start with noticing, and observing. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

See if just that can make a difference in how you experience living in your body.

06/16/2022

Every day, between every session I go out for a walk.

This movement allows me to process the session, find ways to invite a little more grease in my wheels and it often tilmes can completely change my mood.

Then I show up for the next client revitalized and excited to understand and listen to their story.

If you're reading this, it's time to for a walk!

Even if it's just for ten minutes, your body will thank you.

Balancing the arches. πŸ™Œ

When you focus on alignment,
you increase function.

When you increase function,
you reduce injuries, pain, and dysfunction.

Your feet are the foundation of your whole structure.πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Balancing the feet can help reduce:
🌿 Knee a pain
🌿 Ankle rolls
🌿 Hip imbalance
🌿 Spinal Misalignment
🌿 Plantar Fasciitis

When was the last time you really paid attention to your feet?

Feet matter 🦢

A journey with me through the ten series starts exactly where you begin.

Through each session we take every step together, side πŸ‘£πŸ‘₯️️

I will be your cheer leader and your guide. πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

YOU decide how much you want to get out of each session.

What does that mean?

A big lesson learned within the container we create is that YOU are responsible for how you embody YOURself. πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ

That doesnt mean the world didn't happen to you, I understand a lot of what you have been through may have been outside of your control.

What I want to ignite in your mind & your body is that you do have a choice as to how you decide to respond to what's happened within your system. 🀯

And if that means going backwards in order to go forwards... then that's exactly what we will do.

All I know is when you're really ready for a change, I will be ready to guide you to it πŸ˜„

Fascial tension is a different story.... for EVERYONE.

This is one of my favorite images when it comes to explaining the unique patterns of what's living beneath the surface of YOUR back pain. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Back pain is one of the biggest reasons why people will finally seek out Rolfing. 🀯

Of course I will urge you to seek out professional help before your back is 'Killing you' πŸ’€

But what makes your back pain different than the next client's back pain? πŸ€”

I'll tell you the secret..... FASCIA πŸ•Έ

Restrictions, adhesions, compensations, traumas, injuries, repetitive movement patterns...

Every single one of these contributors will create a different holding pattern within your fascial network.

Think of fascia like a continuous web of tissue living throughout your entire body.

It is the organ of FORM.

When it is restricted or adhesed it may show up as:
🌿 Pain
🌿 Structural Imbalances
🌿 Limited ranges of motion
🌿 Knots
🌿 Tightness
🌿 Misalignments
🌿 Difficulty getting a full/deep breath

If any of this resonates with you and you're ready to feel more at home within your skin I urge you to give Rolfing aka Structural Integration a try.

Each session we will explore your unqiue fascial restrictions, uproot holding patterns and replace it with:

🌿 Freedom
🌿 Mobility
🌿 Flexibility
🌿 Increased Self Awareness
🌿 Length
🌿 Balance

Happy International Women's day!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŒΏ

Do you know how much joy I get serving my community as a woman in business? πŸ₯°

Every time I open this door to greet a new client, or an existing client I feel a deep sense of eagerness to get to know their story and create a safe environment for their healing process.

I always remind each client that they showed up at exactly the right time πŸ‘Œ

Any earlier and they may not have been ready to dive into themselves with me as their guide.

Every client comes in like a mystery waiting to be solved, what clues can we gather to figure out what their body is asking for in it's yelps, aches and cries for help. πŸ€”

Slowly, both of us prepared with our curiosity glasses on 🧐

We begin to look on the outside before we sink into what's in - each stroke unraveling their bodies story.

I wish it were easier for me to tell you all that happens within this space, but sadly no photo, caption or reel will ever convey truly the magic that is this work.

If you're ready for answers, if you're ready to walk out of my office with a Mary Poppins sized bag of tools πŸ”§

Don't wait any longer!

Free Phone Consultations for anyone ready to take the plunge into themselves and uncover the mystery beneath their skin ✨️

After sharing this on my story I got about 40 replies from current or previous clients.

It is a pleasure to do this work, to be a guide in the process of bringing people closer to being the embodied selves they want to be.

Thank you all, it is an absolute privilege. Doing this work is a dream come true.

How it all began...

I was a student at Adelphi University majoring in Psychology in the year 2011. I decided to take a Somatic Psychology course as it was the first Somatic Psychology course taught on the east coast by Professor Jennifer Tantia. In this class we developed a deeper understanding of the relationship between body and mind and were shown a multitude of alternative modalities one of which was Structural Integration.

Structural Integration became my concentration and our assignment required us to write a research paper on our chosen modality as well as to go and receive one session from an active practitioner. I met with Justine Walsh who graduated from the New School of Structural Integration a few years prior and was practicing in NYC. After my first session the idea of becoming an SI practitioner had always been present in the back of my mind. I went on and graduated with my BA in Psychology and began working as a Care Coordinator in a homeless shelter in Far Rockaway, New York.

Needless to say working as a Care Coordinator came with many challenges. Heavy case loads with limited resources and an inefficient lack of support from my agency. I decided after two years that there had to be more I could do to help make positive impacts on people’s lives. That is when the idea of pursuing Structural Integration had been re-born. I looked into the different schools across the country and decided on the New School of Structural Integration (NewSSI) in Laguna Beach, California.

In the beginning of the year 2017 I had begun my training as an SI practitioner. This work has transformed me as a person both physically and emotionally. My relationship with the world around me had a new light and that light was the freedom Structural Integration had given me. I felt more comfortable in my body, I had developed a deeper understanding of my relationship with earth’s gravitational field and I was able to release years of trauma trapped in my tissue through my 10 series.
