Exercise is ESSENTIAL to being healthy! It is non-negotiable, no movement will lead to problems. On the other hand, too much exercise has its own list of consequences. At the end of the day it is about BALANCE!
-

-
The quantity and quality of exercise varies from person to person. It is based on your age, body-type, and baseline of health. But EVERYONE has to move in some form. From gentle movements like yoga or qigong, to high-intensity exercise, the style should be appropriate for you.
-

-
Too sedentary of a lifestyle can result in a vicious cycle of fatigue, weakness, and weight gain that makes it hard to start exercising. Acupuncture helps break this cycle by increasing energy, metabolic rate, and well-being so that you are inclined to exercise. You gain momentum and get in the habit, and next thing you know you have leveled up!
-

-
Over-exercising can also be detrimental to your health. Especially when we consistently use energy drinks and pre-workout products. With these, we can easily run our bodies down unconsciously. The result of this habit is depleted adrenal reserves, i.e. severe fatigue, as well as a propensity for injury. It can take a LONG time to recover from this kind of long-term habit, and recovery is not fun. Acupuncture can quicken recovery, and treat the mentioned complications in the infographic.

Watch out for the signs of imbalance with respect to movement, and catch it before it gets bad!

Diet in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a unique perspective. The characteristics of food are based on how they affect our body. Learning about food in this way allows us to be informed on how to life in balance with the environment, the seasons, and with our unique physiology.
-

-
Directionality is the parts of the body food influences. For example, eating pears are good for the throat, which are related to the lung system in TCM. All food and drink we consume goes to a specific part of our bodies.
-

-
Temperature is not the literal temperature of the food, but the energetics of the food. The effect of eating a certain food has on our bodies. Pear, for example is cooling, and may benefit someone with a heat condition in the throat (sore throat, loss of voice, etc.)
-

-
Flavor of the food describes the manner it affects our bodies. For instance, bitter flavors have a downward effect. Think about how if you drink black coffee, it commonly prompts a visit to the bathroom.
-

-
Watermelon is a fruit that is in-season in the Summer, and happens to treat heat conditions effectively. It is common in the Summer to get illnesses involving heat because the environment is hot. Eating watermelon keeps us hydrated, promotes urination, and cools the heart, bladder, and stomach systems according to TCM. Not to mention it is refreshing and delicious.
-

-
Looking at food through an alternate lens can help us when making decisions about what we should eat, and how it might affect our bodies.. For better or for worse..

-
Living in harmony with nature is the best way to stay healthy and thrive! So go get some watermelon today!

-
The goal is to have and maintain a balanced lifestyle that allows us to be healthy and enjoy life. It’s not about being perfect, but the sum of all of our habits equals the future version of ourselves. Meaning, if continuing things the way that they are now, what would the condition of your life be in 3 months? 1 year? 5 years?
-

-
The purpose of this content is to get you thinking about where you land in the several different aspects of “lifestyle” and maybe illuminate what’s out of balance.
