When life hands out lemons, Charlize turns them into kindness for the community! 🍋💙 At just 7 years old, this San Diego local wanted to support patients at Rady Children's. She set up a lemonade stand in her neighborhood park and donated every dollar she raised to help bring joy to the kids who are going through so much. Thank you, Charlize, for your generosity!

When asked about her favorite part of working in the CTICU, Becca shared: “You don’t just care for the patient—you care for the whole family. It’s a privilege to bring hope, love and joy to families facing some of their hardest moments.” Our nurses are more than caregivers—they’re advocates, constantly assessing, monitoring & ensuring each patient gets the critical care they need. They stand on the front lines, supporting both patients & families every step of the way.

Our 30-bed CTICU (Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit) is dedicated to providing expert, family-centered care for children with congenital or acquired heart disease. From admission to discharge, every aspect of care happens in this specialized space, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our young heart warriors. 💙

A Rady Children's romance! 💘 This , meet Dr. Sandra Leibel, neonatologist, & Dr. Sydney Leibel, board-certified allergist & immunologist at Rady Children's. 👋

Their love story began during pediatric residency in Salt Lake City, where they quickly bonded over a shared love of the outdoors. Some of their best early conversations happened on ski lifts! ⛷️

Nearly 16 years of marriage later, they have both been caring for patients at Rady Children's for 11 years & still make time to meet for lunch at work whenever they can.

"Working in medicine means there's a lot of unspoken understanding & support," they say. "Our relationship works because we respect each other's differences & share a passion for helping others." 💙

Meet Ian, the youngest of three brothers diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called ataxia telangiectasia (AT), which affects the nervous & immune systems, balance, & coordination. Ian was also the second of the three boys to be diagnosed with leukemia at a young age. For years, he bravely underwent treatment at Peckham Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, sometimes alongside his older brother, Graham.

At a follow-up appointment, Ian's care team identified signs of liver disease that were causing severe blood loss. They acted quickly, performing a blood transfusion & a complex renal procedure to reroute affected vessels & arteries to his kidney. Thanks to their expertise & Ian’s incredible determination, he made an amazing recovery. 💙

One of our favorite nights of the holiday season! 🤩 was glowing with joy during our annual Light the Way Parade of Lights — a special evening devoted to bringing cheer to patients spending the holidays in the hospital. 🌟🎄
 
The night began with festive holiday fun, & then our incredible firefighters & lifeguards lit up the campus with their flashing red lights & sirens, creating a magical moment for our patients & families.🚨

Our Comprehensive Kidney & Liver Centers kicked off the holiday season with a magical Nutcracker-themed celebration for our patients & their families! ❄️✨
 
Guests were treated to a surprise performance by the talented dancers of , bringing the beauty of the Nutcracker to life. And of course, Santa made a special appearance—spreading cheer & delivering gifts to our kiddos & their siblings. 💙
