Big news for Lyme warriors đź’Ą

Researchers at Northwestern University found that Piperacillin, a common antibiotic, kills Lyme bacteria in mice at 100x lower doses than doxycycline — the current go-to treatment.

Even better? Piperacillin leaves your gut microbiome untouched, unlike doxy, which can cause major gut disruption and still doesn’t work for 10–20% of patients.

This could mean safer, more effective treatment options in the future — especially for kids, who are most at risk and often can't take doxy. 💚

The Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) 2026 forecast warns that vector-borne diseases like Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, and heartworm are spreading into new regions across the United States. These shifts are driven by factors such as climate change, pet travel, wildlife movement, and environmental changes.

The forecast, based on extensive diagnostic data, helps veterinarians anticipate risks, improve prevention strategies, and tailor vaccinations and testing. CAPC emphasizes that year-round prevention and annual testing are now essential, as “low risk” areas can still face emerging threats.

"Think it's too cold for ticks? Think again. Dr. Daniel Cameron is busting one of the most common — and dangerous — Lyme disease myths out there. ❄️🦟 Ticks don't die in winter — they go dormant and come back out any time temps rise above freezing. Every year, people are told their symptoms can't be Lyme because of the season, only to be diagnosed months later when treatment is much harder. Don't let the calendar dismiss you!

Tick season is no joke — and it's getting more complicated. A new study by the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies found that nearly 40% of blacklegged ticks in the Northeast are carrying at least one disease-causing pathogen, and 1 in 10 are carrying multiple pathogens at once. That means one bite could expose you to more than just Lyme disease. If you got sick after a tick bite and want answers, Alianza Biohealth offers comprehensive testing for Lyme (Borrelia) and multiple co-infections through ArminLabs.

Praying for our friend Alyssa Knapp with Lyme Advise on the passing of her mother. Alyssa noted, "When I was at my sickest, she helped keep me alive. When I found the strength to rebuild, she encouraged me to dream bigger than survival. She taught me to never give up."

We are thankful for Lenka and her fight for Lyme patients.

This week, my mom and best friend, Lenka Knapp, passed peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved her the most in the lifetime.

Lyme Advise wouldn’t exist without her.

She believed me when I was sick. She believed me when doctors didn’t. She believed me when the medical system failed to listen — and she never once made me doubt my own body or my own voice.

When I was at my sickest, she helped keep me alive. When I found the strength to rebuild, she encouraged me to dream bigger than survival. She taught me to never give up.

Lyme Advise began as a quiet idea born out of pain and necessity. My mom was the first person to say, “You should do this.” She believed in the mission long before there was a website, a following, or a name for it. She believed that patients deserved better — each and every one of you — and that I could help create that.

She taught me to trust myself. To stand my ground. To build something meaningful, even when it was hard.

If Lyme Advise has ever helped you feel less alone, less dismissed, or more empowered — please know that part of that comes from her.

Thank you for the kindness, patience, and love you’ve shown me over the years and thank you for allowing me the space to grieve while knowing that this community continues to matter deeply to me.

Her love lives on here — in advocacy, in truth-telling, and in believing patients when they say, “Something isn’t right.”

With gratitude,Alyssa

Exceptional and reliable testing for answers to tick borne infections such as Lyme (Borrelia), Babesia, Bartonella and more!!

🕷️ Published research shows that blacklegged ticks can carry multiple pathogens in a single bite.
Such co-infections may complicate diagnosis and treatment and highlight the need for thorough testing after tick exposure.
