Praying for our friend Alyssa Knapp with Lyme Advise on the passing of her mother. Alyssa noted, "When I was at my sickest, she helped keep me alive. When I found the strength to rebuild, she encouraged me to dream bigger than survival. She taught me to never give up."
We are thankful for Lenka and her fight for Lyme patients.
This week, my mom and best friend, Lenka Knapp, passed peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved her the most in the lifetime.
Lyme Advise wouldn’t exist without her.
She believed me when I was sick. She believed me when doctors didn’t. She believed me when the medical system failed to listen — and she never once made me doubt my own body or my own voice.
When I was at my sickest, she helped keep me alive. When I found the strength to rebuild, she encouraged me to dream bigger than survival. She taught me to never give up.
Lyme Advise began as a quiet idea born out of pain and necessity. My mom was the first person to say, “You should do this.” She believed in the mission long before there was a website, a following, or a name for it. She believed that patients deserved better — each and every one of you — and that I could help create that.
She taught me to trust myself. To stand my ground. To build something meaningful, even when it was hard.
If Lyme Advise has ever helped you feel less alone, less dismissed, or more empowered — please know that part of that comes from her.
Thank you for the kindness, patience, and love you’ve shown me over the years and thank you for allowing me the space to grieve while knowing that this community continues to matter deeply to me.
Her love lives on here — in advocacy, in truth-telling, and in believing patients when they say, “Something isn’t right.”
With gratitude,Alyssa
