Teen dating violence can take many forms—physical, emotional, verbal, or digital—and it’s crucial to recognize the signs early. This month, let’s raise awareness, educate teens about healthy relationships, and provide resources for those who may be experiencing abuse. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued in their relationships. Let’s work together to empower teens and create a culture of respect and love.

February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of Black individuals throughout history. It's also an important moment to reflect on mental health, particularly within the Black community, where there is often a lack of access to resources and a stigma surrounding seeking help. Acknowledging and addressing mental health struggles, including the impact of systemic racism, is vital for healing and growth. Let's use this month to honor resilience, support one another, and promote the importance of mental well-being for everyone.

Christmas can be a joyful time, but it can also bring challenges for mental health. The pressure of gift-giving, social obligations, or feelings of loneliness can feel overwhelming. It's important to acknowledge these feelings and take steps to care for your mental well-being. Prioritize self-care, set healthy boundaries, and don't be afraid to ask for support if needed. Remember, it's okay to take a break from the holiday rush and focus on what feels right for you. This season, let kindness, compassion, and peace start with yourself.

We were thrilled to be part of the "What I Wish My Parents Knew" event, where our Lead Counselor, Rosamaria, joined a panel to answer questions from parents. The event focused on bridging the gap between parents and teens, offering valuable insights on mental health, communication, and support strategies.

At NC-TRC, we’re proud to be part of these important conversations that empower parents to be more supportive and proactive in their children’s mental health journey. If you weren’t able to attend the event, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for more resources or to schedule a consultation with our team of experts.

Thanksgiving: Gratitude, Giving, and Mental Health

This Thanksgiving, let's not only give thanks for our blessings but also remember the importance of mental health. The holiday season can bring joy, but it can also stir up stress or feelings of loneliness for many. It’s important to practice gratitude and be kind to ourselves, recognizing both the highs and lows of life.

Gratitude boosts mental well-being, helping us focus on what’s positive. If you're struggling, it’s okay to seek support whether from loved ones or a professional. This season, let’s give the gift of kindness to others and to ourselves.

Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with love, compassion, and self-care.

Red Ribbon Week is an annual event held in October to raise awareness about the importance of drug prevention and promote healthy lifestyles among youth. Originating in honor of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who lost his life fighting drug trafficking, the week serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers of drug use and the value of making positive choices.

Schools and communities participate by organizing various activities, including educational programs, themed days, and community service projects. It's a time for students to pledge to live drug-free lives, engage in meaningful discussions, and learn about the impact of substance abuse on individuals and families.

Join in the spirit of Red Ribbon Week by wearing red, sharing messages of hope, and promoting a culture of prevention and support!
