Botulinum toxins aka neuromodulators like Botox help relax dynamic wrinkles,
or lines that show when making facial expressions.

There are currently 6 FDA approved neuromodulators, including Xeomin, Daxxify, and Jeuveau.

// Things to keep in mind after a Botox injection treatment:

* Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area:
This can cause the Botox to spread to other muscles.

* Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat:
This can increase blood flow to the area and potentially reduce the effectiveness of the Botox.

* Stay upright for a few hours:
This helps to prevent the Botox from migrating.

* Sleep on your back (not on your stomach):
This also helps to prevent the Botox from spreading.

* Be aware of potential side effects: These can include bruising, swelling, and headaches (1% of patients).

Follow up with RADIESSE Training

One week ago, we did a training on fillers Radiesse and Belotero.
I'm happy to provide close follow up with them today and am loving the progress.

Radiesse is calcium hydroxyapatide, a biostimulatory filler, which means that it stimulates your body to produce collagen and provides a lifting and volumizing effect.
The result is providing structure nicely without being overdone.

Jim looks more youthful. 😊

Plus, in the next 3 to 4 weeks, the Radiesse will continue to stimulate more collagen production.

FOLLOW UP - EMSCULPT NEO

My 26yo patient Louie started the Emsculpt Neo treatments in October 2023,
so I am happy to follow up with a 6 month check-in.

He loves his progress.

Louie is into crossfit and running.
However, the abdomen has been difficult to slim...

Before 166.8 lbs, 18.2% Body Fat, 33.5" waist
After 158.0 lbs, 16.8% Body Fat, 32.6" waist

My lovely 66yo patient wanted less fine lines,
especially the lines around her mouth and chin.

I used Belotero, a super soft filler around her lower lip for the vertical lip lines.
In addition, we softened the nasolabial folds, oral commissures and mentolabial sulcus (the horizontal line between the chin and lower lip.)

She LOVES the results.

Here are pics from TODAY - before & right after the treatment.

You can see an IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENT with Belotero, aka the "photoshop filler", which instantaneously erases the superficial lines.

The beautiful results last 9-12 months.

It has been a year since my first day "back to the gym".

I remember going to Mission Valley 24 Hour Fitness in March 2023 and feeling so lost. We had to wear masks while working out and it was not an easy task when doing intense cardio. The guy chdckjng me in said, "Wow, it's been a while!"

I'm so glad that I did though. It took a few visits til I felt comfortable and eventually we did spin classes without masks and things felt OK again.

A year ago, I joined and did a few classes at .

Now, fitness is part of my life, it has become a habit and a ritual.

I found inspiration from my friends who post their workouts and commitments to fitness and healthy living, even if it is a struggle and not "perfect". Keep trying. ❤️

What is "Botox" and what can it do?

In 2002, the FDA approved the use of Botox® (Botulinum toxin-A) for the cosmetic purpose of temporarily reducing glabeller forehead frown lines. It doesn't help with "static wrinkles", or lines that are present without facial movement.

Many brands of "Botox" or neuromodulators are available now, including my favorite Xeomin. Some newer neuromodulators include Daxxify and Jeuveau. Hugel is releasing one soon called Lytebo.

The list of possible new indications is rapidly expanding.

Botulinum toxins now play a very significant role in the management of a wide variety of medical conditions, especially strabismus and focal dystonias, hemifacial spasm, and various spastic movement disorders, headaches, hypersalivation, hyperhidrosis, and some chronic conditions that respond only partially to medical treatment. Even urologists are doing Botox injections to treat bladder spasms.

The cosmetological applications include correction of lines, creases and wrinkling all over the face, chin, neck, and chest to dermatological applications such as hyperhidrosis. Masseters are injected to decrease jaw tension and for facial slimming.

Injections with botulinum toxin are generally well tolerated and side effects are few. A precise knowledge and understanding of the functional anatomy of the mimetic muscles is absolutely necessary to correctly use botulinum toxins in clinical practice.
