Did you know we have FREE acupuncture all throughout the year with 3 internships from acupuncture students ? Each group brings their own skill sets to show up and provide compassionate care during the auricular and individual treatments. Each round goes by way too fast. We want to acknowledge Emma Hainey, Libby Michalski, Adahra Poasa and Dr. Lathrop .amymarie for intentionally choosing Topkare Hospice as one of the communities to get experience in supporting those who are caregivers, grievers and those who may have never tried these holistic services. Your impact is felt, appreciated and we are cheering for each of you as you continue your acupuncture school and future to helping others. Thank you for your meaningful contributions to the volunteer program.

Did you know the free monthly in person grief gathering recent topics have come from Radical Bravery booklet that was given out last Novemeber with bunch of resources including journal prompts and questions to help folks process, digest and metabolize grief? The topic for May 12th is sharing memories that bring comfort and pain. And why? What tools can help have open conversations with loved ones to learn and find out about personalized preferences? We love the Dementia Deck and EOL deck that gives three choices and the chance to think about and a way to turn hard conversations into curiosity and easy ways to gather information and learn about what someone may want versus guessing. Have you heard of these card decks? Come share your tips in having end of life conversations with those you love the most.

Did you know showing up to the monthly sound experience for grief is often met with a ritual provided by Bereavement Coordinator Rebekah Finn ? It sets the tone for those who walk in the door having the opportunity to NAME their grief. Yesterday afternoon each person could write in words on dissolvable paper and take it with them to dissolve in water on their own or place in the jar to be used as part of the 2026 Annual Memorial Service. There’s truly something sacred about writing and then opening your heart to receive sound vibrations and vocals to be able to take up space with the emotions that may arise while processing grief we carry as humans. Thank you for the 10 people who showed up for themselves and community. We are grateful to have your presence and new person who tries it for the first time. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. These sound experiences are always free and happen the first Sunday of each month from 3-4pm. Save the date as the next one is May 3rd and you can RSVP via text to 858.833.0546. Thank you to singer Connie Kimberly Lim for the medicine music played before the session began to prep the room with love, light and protection.

Did you know April is Volunteer Appreciation Month? We want to acknowledge and give a huge shout out to all the volunteers who choose to be a part of the Topkare Hospice team and program including the partnership we have with acupuncture students. Each person matters and the compassionate companionship and special gifts you bring helps provide so much comfort to the loved ones and families that choose us to help them at end of life. It takes a special type of human to want to give their time to support those during a sacred time of life. We appreciate and want to thank each one of you.
