Leadership trail recon completed. Let's just say our pain is worth it so we make sure our vets get the therapy they need. Needless to say, it's official, PCE is closed and we won't be able to ride this trail system anymore.

Major Keith A. Butler was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery after being killed in action in Afghanistan on 10 May 2014. His death marked the end of a career defined by presence at the front and commitment to those he led, even after decades of service.

Across 37 years, Butler served in both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps, a rare path reflecting adaptability and endurance. He completed 44 deployments, repeatedly returning to combat zones long after many would have stepped away, carrying experience earned through constant exposure to conflict.

His burial at Arlington honors a life shaped by duty rather than duration. Butler’s record reminds us of the cumulative toll carried by career warriors and the quiet resolve required to keep answering the call. Remembering him preserves the human cost behind service numbers and honors sacrifice without condition.

Today Director Curran welcomed Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Carlos A. Ruiz to US Secret Service Headquarters. They discussed opportunities for Marines to continue their service after the U.S. Marine Corps. We are grateful for the strong partnership between our historic institutions.

This year, we didn’t just ride trails—we helped change lives. Through mountain biking, we gave veterans struggling with PTSD something powerful: connection, purpose, and a place to breathe again. On the bike, ranks and labels fade, replaced by camaraderie, challenge, and trust. Each ride became a form of therapy—reducing stress, rebuilding confidence, and reminding our veterans they’re not alone. The miles we covered together represent resilience, healing, and hope. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, and even more proud of the veterans who showed up, pushed forward, and proved that recovery is possible—one ride at a time.

We sadly announce the passing of General Michael J. Williams, 28th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, whose lifetime of service exemplified honor, courage, and commitment. General Williams also served as a USMC Senior Representative for the Marine Corps Association, continuing his dedication to Marines beyond active service. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the honor to serve alongside him.

Today mission was to es**rt a recently retired US Army Disabled Veteran to his final resting place at the Riverside National Cemetery. Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 33-1 from San Diego and 33-3 from Chino and Patriots Guards es**rted our brother and his family to support and provide military honors.
