👙🏋🏼♀️🙌🏼 As a competitive NPC bikini competitor, I am constantly putting my body through massive constant daily stress from weightlifting, cardio to posing sessions. I've had hundreds of massages throughout my life, including "deep tissue" and "sports massage", they were wonderful and relaxing, but the relief only lasted a few hours, and I was often sore again the very next day. •••
•••
What Chris does is completely different. Of course he does massages as well, and I encourage everyone to incorporate massage into their life as it helps with relaxation, decompressing, stress, anxiety, and spiritual well-being. But as far as our bodies go, this ONE body we are given, it is vital to address the root of our bodies ailments, and not just skim the surface, with a temporary fix. This is exactly what Chris does through ART massage therapy. •••
•••
💆🏼♀️💞 ART stands for Active Release Techniques, and is a soft tissue system/movement based massage technique which treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. •••
••• •••
🧠 Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shinsplints, shoulder pain, sciatica, planter fasciitis, knee problems and tennis elbow are just a few of the conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. The important thing that all of these conditions have in common is that they are the result of overused muscles. •••
•••
I'm thrilled to share this experience with you all, as it has changed my relationship with my body forever! •••
Had to time lapse @planetmike_ session because it took 5-hours to treat this BAMF. That’s big ass mofo! 🤣 JK but yeah he’s a big strong dude! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

HUGE thank you to @liveunbroken for making these videos with me. Chris has been my ART specialist for the past 3 years. He took me from being completely unable to even do a BODY SQUAT, to earning 1st place at a powerlifting meet, squatting with 295lbs with GREAT form. He has done WONDERS for me and is an encyclopedia of knowledge. SO excited to have him share what he knows with you all! Follow him @liveunbroken 🙏🏼🙌🏼

Just when I thought I was going have to pullout of my next competition I seen a little light at the end of the tunnel. Its been 3 weeks now since I was laying in the ER with back spasms so painful I couldn't move. Went to the gym optimistic about squats today and damn did it feel good to hit some good sets at 60%. Got to thank @batespowerlifting for adjusting my program to what I could do over this time. Also, got to thank Chris over @liveunbroken for working on me last week to get me to where I am now. Hit him if you need some work done.
Best of luck to @gerardjake aka #theshredder at @mrolympiallc this weekend. Been a pleasure and humbled to be providing your bodywork! Good luck!!! 🔪💪🏼
When your clients have no idea I use massage cream infused with steroids! 🤣 But seriously regular bodywork allows you to recover and move better. Hence, GAINZ!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Having the proper balance of mobility and stability will not only improve strength and performance, but posture and posing!

Forgot to post this chest workout form yesterday, my bench took a big hit from the cut, weight feels so damn heavy, it could also have a lot to do with my right shoulder unit. It's been mangled for a while getting so bad that 2 weeks before the show I couldn't flare my lat out for posing. Got some tissue work done with @liveunbroken and by the end of it I was able to lat spread again. Gonna have to go see him again for imbalance in strength i have with my left and right side. Anyways back to the workout, starting back lighter with bench press for 9-10 reps, followed by plyo push-ups to failure focusing on keeping my Back tight, not over extending my arms and trying to keep the amortization phase to a minimum. Then I finished with wide db press to failure with stiff straight legs to get some light core work in 5 rounds.
Thank you sensei for your guidance! 😂 This is also great if you have a back injury and can't stand for long periods of time but still need to get your cardio in. 😜🚶🏻
That's just pain leaving the body! 😜

Yesterday I had another session with Chris @liveunbroken .He is helping me to improve the appearance of my delts and back muscles by taking the knots off.So I can open, spin and pose properly.
He is an excellent professional who has knowledge of various sports he also takes care of some olympic athletes 🏅
Rehab day. Im feeling particularly amazing today. I've had a lot of help getting my body back to working again. @seancranetraining and @s10fitness both have been working on me weekly if not daily. ❤️ yesterday I met with @liveunbroken to give him a run for his money 😂 and he was helpful and knowledgeable 💪🏼🙏🏼 so thank you very much..
This here is just a pole with a tennis ball on the end and I am basically working on getting some release to my pectineus, which is one of the main problems in my upper groin area. One day at a time!!!!!! 💪🏼💯💯💯.

Do you have TIGHT HIPS? Does it PINCH or HURT when you SQUAT? Give this a try!
👉🏼ACTIVE ROLLING 👈🏼
-
HOW TO:
Place the ball on the side of your hip (target the TFL) and move the bottom leg into flexion and extension. This muscle has a lot of functions and gets easily angry if you do a lot of hip exercises and cardio. Then sit on the ball with it on the outside edge of your glute (glute medius/minimus) moving your knee back and forth to the side of your body. Make it uncomfortable but not painful; get those deep layers and hunt for tight/sore areas. Spend about 2-min per muscle.
Rolling with movement (active rolling) has improved my mobility, pain, and recovery TREMENDOUSLY. Improving these things is one of my main goals for my off season!

If you live in the San Diego area and want to try a professional ACTIVE RELEASE THERAPY session, I highly recommend @liveunbroken 🙏🏼 I am going twice a week and it has made the BIGGEST difference. Perfect for athletes and high-stress individuals like myself. Plus Chris will give you AT-HOME EXERCISES like these to practice and learn on your own!
Move Better. Feel Better. What else is there?!

Thank you so much Chris at @liveunbroken for a great ART session! Please go see this guy, he is a miracle worker! I can't wait for my next session!
Just because you do 100 crunches a day or have a 6-pack doesn't necessarily mean your core is strong.

Looks super weird, but is actually a pretty effective ab exercise.
Set cable to a fairly low weight, just heavy enough to pull you to one side. Pull the cable out from the machine and hold it at your chest, then press forward, trying to keep your arms and body as straight as possible. The idea is that the attachment will be pulling you to one side, and your core (primarily obliques) must stabilize you to prevent that. Do 15-20 reps, switch sides, and repeat. Try 4-5 sets. 😊
Shoutout to Chris of @liveunbroken for telling me about this exercise. He's been working with me a lot during this injury/recovery, and helping me with different stretches/rolling out movements, and workout ideas to help stay healthy and recover. If you're in the San Diego area, I would highly recommend @liveunbroken for ART and/or sports massage! Chris is awesome 🤗 and if you tell him I sent you, you'll get 30% off your first session!
This @y0ledo. His hips are tight and they hurt because he doesn't incorporate regular bodywork in his health & fitness lifestyle. Don't be like @y0ledo. 👎🏽😜

If anyone else has mobility issues I highly recommend @liveunbroken if you're in the San Diego area. Really opened my eyes to the importance of having proper flexibility and mobility.
@Regrann from @franlimari_ - I am having a great time watching @y0ledo in pain, he called me a baby last time because I thought it hurt. He has been lifting extremely heavy and had several muscles that felt extremely tense and Chris got them all rubbed out. It's not a miracle fix but after several sessions and proper mobility, core, and strength work; you'll be feeling the best you ever have. Here's a clip from his Active Release Therapy (ART) at @liveunbroken this afternoon. I would highly recommend ART to anyone, and if you're in the San Diego area hit up @liveunbroken
It's all in the hips. 🍑 OK not always. If you have knee pain, tight IT band, trouble firing your glutes, or can't get ass to grass, the hips are a good place to look.
Schedule your app't now to get you moving and feeling better. First timers get 30% off. Limited time offer.

Tuesdays trick
Who has tight glutes!!??? 🙋🏽🙋🏽🙋🏽 (more specifically TFL band)
It's my number one pain area because I am constantly hitting booty hard in the gym. #bootygainz
Chris at @liveunbroken taught me an active release exercise to help with this tension. Take a lacrosse ball or something of the sort find the sore spot and sit on it. Then move your leg in and out at various angles for about 20 reps. Then switch sides. Do this a few times until you feel that release. Yes it's going to hurt and be uncomfortable but you'll feel a million times better 🙌🏼 try it
When you're on a diet and you can't eat bread. 😢😂
Do you even get ART? 🤔 Active release is an extremely effective soft tissue technique that can reduce pain, improve recovery, and increase performance.

Yesterday I had my first session of ART (Active Release Techniques) with Chris at @liveunbroken.
He evaluated my posture, movement, ROM, and did a ton of work on my upper back where I've been feeling extremely tight and knotted (for years honestly).
The session was incredible, and what makes Chris different from other bodyworkers is that he actually teaches you exercises & gives you "homework" to do at home to better help you in your quest for better mobility and a healthier body.
He's extremely knowledgeable, and he possesses the skills and tools (his magic hands 😆) to help you become a better athlete.
I'm so happy to have been introduced to his work, and I definitely want to continue incorporating body work into my regular fitness routine.
If you're in San Diego I highly recommend checking him out, he's right across from World Gym on Garnet Ave.
