Happy Veterans Day! Today we’re honored to spotlight Dr. Rachael Allen.

Dr. Allen is a Navy-trained ophthalmologist who served as Chair of Ophthalmology and Director of the Warfighter Refractive Surgery Program at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. She has performed thousands of LASIK and PRK procedures for active duty service members, improving vision and readiness across the force.

She also deployed with the Marines and Seabees throughout the South Pacific, providing medical care in austere and remote environments.

Dr. Allen is deeply proud of her time in uniform and remains committed to serving her community with the same dedication and precision that defined her military career.

Happy Veterans Day!

Dr. Asa Morton proudly served 24 years in the United States Navy. His career began as an F-14 pilot, where he learned the importance of teamwork—something that continued to guide him as he transitioned into medicine. After becoming an ophthalmologist and later an oculofacial surgeon, Dr. Morton went on to train Navy eye surgeons at both Bethesda and San Diego, a role he considers a great privilege.

One memory that still brings a smile: while stationed in El Centro, California, he once led his F-14 squadron on a memorable outing by “borrowing” a school bus from the base motor pool so they could explore the local town together.

We honor Dr. Morton and all who have served for their courage, commitment, and sacrifice.
