Unapologetically in denial that summer is over 👎
But girl… it’s November. 🫠
One of the blessing of living in San Diego is that the summer heat sticks around a bit longer than what I’m used to. But hitting November means the heat is officially gone. 😢
A few peices to close the season and acknowledge that vata season is here…
The three doshas govern each season: pitta = summer, kapha = winter and spring, and vata = fall.
Fall lovers typically say they love the cool air, being cozy at home, and eating warm foods. 🍁
All things to help balance this vata energy… and you’ve been doing it without even realizing it!
Fall is actually the time to slow down, but society actually makes us pick up the speed.
It’s the back to school season, big holiday sales push, end of year financial reorting, and all of this running around can deplete our energy. (exhibit A: flu season…)
Rest looks different for everyone. The key (always in Ayurveda) is balance.
A balanced exercise routine, strategic rest (hot baths, meditation) and vata reducing practices will get you through this. 🫶🏼
Vata embodies all things cold, sharp, fast, light, dry, etc. These qualities are found in our food, the environment, and overall vibes. (Exhibit B: capitalistic corporate world 🫡).
What this has been looking like for me: less phone time, more naps, pre-bed meditations. Hbu?
