School refusal has become increasingly common among teens since the pandemic, and it’s not just about “not wanting to go.” Many adolescents are facing heightened anxiety, depression, and burnout as they try to readjust to social expectations and daily routines. Academic pressures feel heavier than ever, especially for students navigating ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or other developmental + learning challenges. For some, school environments can feel overwhelming rather than supportive. At PRI Treatment Center, we offer multiple levels of care to address school refusal and help uncover the underlying causes driving school avoidance so teens can rebuild confidence and return to learning with support.

Please reach out to our clinic today to learn more about how our programs can help address your teen’s mental health concerns and the school refusal that often accompanies them. Call our admissions team at 858-295-1815 ext. 1 to learn more or schedule a consultation.

The first day of spring reminds us that no matter how long the winter feels, change is always on the horizon. Just like the seasons, tough moments don’t last forever - even when they feel endless. Growth, warmth, and brighter days find their way back to us in time!!

Friendship can be one of the most powerful supports in our lives - and it doesn’t need to be a big circle to matter. Good friends remind us we’re not alone, provide a shoulder to cry on, and encourage us to be ourselves.

Building meaningful connections can be challenging, and we are here to support teens and young adults with learning the skills to build and maintain healthy friendships. The right friend can help us feel seen and bring moments of lightness when our days feel dark. Today we celebrate ever kind of friendship, big or small, that helps us feel a little less alone! 🫂🫂

Following the observation of World Teen Mental Wellness Day on March 2nd, we aim to continue the conversation surrounding the mental health challenges adolescents face and how we can break the stigma around seeking help.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 7 individuals between the ages of 10 and 19 currently experience mental health concerns. We want to remind you that open conversations with teens about their mental wellbeing can make all the difference!

Social pressures, social media, academic stress, and a rapidly changing world can lead to overwhelm and/or isolation. We encourage parents to create a safe space for difficult conversations, and seek professional mental health support when needed.

Reach out to us at 858-295-1815 should you need guidance on what support is most appropriate for your teen. We are dedicated to breaking the stigma and fostering a supportive environment where teens can develop stronger coping skills, emotional regulation skills, and personalized treatment plans!
