Planking! Proud of my patient performing a perfect plank! She has a history of lower back disc pain with a repair. She was left with a lot of continued pain, neural tension in the legs, fear of moving and loss of core, and glut strength.
Plank, if done correctly, will strengthen not only the core but gluts, thighs, scapular and shoulder strength, as well as the trunk. Remember to be a TABLE when planking, not a saggy table or an inverted "V " with bottom up. If you are feeling discomfort in the lower back or shoulders, then doing it incorrectly.
Hold 10 sec, 3x with steady increase to 30 sec hold.
