Beginning in 2023, the study will sequence the genomes of 100,000 babies, providing crucial evidence of the effectiveness of this cutting-edge technology in identifying conditions.

A landmark Β£105 million research study, led by Genomics England in partnership with the NHS, is set to explore the use of whole genome sequencing to detect and treat rare genetic diseases in newborns.

This innovation can lead to developmental and learning difficulties, as well as long-term health complications without treatment.

PCOS AND THE MICROBIOME

One new interesting and important finding is that the 1 in 10 women suffering from Polycystic o***y syndrome tend to have significantly different gut and vaginal microbiomes, compared to women who do not have PCOS. It is theorised that major imbalances within the gut and vaginal microbiomes may trigger PCOS symptoms via an underlying mechanism that involves microbial metabolites. PCOS patients had decreased diversity and higher levels of Streptococcus, which appear to negatively affect follicle stimulating hormone levels (FSH is a major player in fertility – it helps the ovaries release eggs). Reduced microbial abundance and diversity are often significantly correlated with chronic inflammation.

The manipulation of the gut microbiome in laboratory mice with PCOS has also been shown to positively affect symptoms.

Is your gut causing bad skin conditions?

Research evidence clearly shows a strong connection between intestinal problems and skin disorders. The state of your intestines can also reflect in the state of your skin.

Gut-skin connection is related to g.ut-skin axis. Many causes of breakouts are caused by having leaky gut, SIBO, toxic bowels, parasites, and candida/yeast. Having an unhealthy gut and toxic bowel can result in you feeling unwell, and the root cause of unhealthy skin conditions go undiagnosed. The results of an unhealthy bowel and digestive system on a physical level can produce lots of symptoms, like a lack of energy and skin problems.
A dietary protocol can help the gut and the skin.
