Oya is so powerful, she was able to carry a buffalo on her shoulders as a symbol of her power and strength. Oya was an accomplished hunter and warrior. Created by odes (hunters), from an early age she dominated the art of war and hunting. Oya was much feared and considered stronger than a man. Oya was fast, strong, smart and imposing. Although the buffalo is an animal that symbolizes Oya, it was not a buffalo that Oya transformed into. Oya was transformed into an antelope and not a buffalo. On her hunts, Oya killed a buffalo (which is an incredible feat for any hunter) and carried him on her shoulders and head until she reached her village. This indicated, in addition to sustenance, as the buffalo contains a lot of meat and feeds an entire village for days, it was also a demonstration of Oya's power and strength. Oya is extremely admired and respected by Sango, and often feared by Sango. Such admiration is such that Sango never parted with Oya and made her his main companion. Without Oya, Sango doesn't make a fire! Such complicity is such that as soon as Sango entered the land and returned to the orun, Oya went along. Brave warrior and the great hunter and lady of Ira, whose main temple bears the name of Ile Oya Oke Onira. There is no one who does not respect this great Iyagba.
